Interview: Seminole County sheriff candidates Paul “Spike” Hopkins and Dennis Lemma

The Orlando Sentinel Editorial Board interviews Paul Spike Hopkins and Dennis Lemma, candidates for Seminole County Sheriff.

Two candidates are running for Seminole County sheriff in the general election.

Paul “Spike” Hopkins, the Democratic candidate, and Dennis Lemma, a Republican and the current sheriff, were interviewed by the Orlando Sentinel Editorial Board.

The candidates talked about their priorities, backgrounds and qualifications for the post, including their ideas for what kind of reforms law enforcement should consider in the wake of George Floyd’s death.

Lemma is completing his first term as sheriff in Seminole. Hopkins ran for sheriff in Orange County in 2016 as a Republican but lost to Jerry Demings.
