Pink Ribbon Girls - Changes during COVID-19

Right now non profits are seeing canceled fundraisers and lower donations...but cancer doesn't stop...and neither does pink ribbon girls...Jan Middleton. We are writing grants, doing some fun virtual fundraisers and trying to be creative as possible to ensure that our patients never feel alone in this! We have increased the number of meals that we are sending to patients from 3 per person/per week to 5 per person per week because now more than ever they need to be so careful about exposure to germs. The extra meals also help with families that have kids at home because schools are closed. We have continued to offer rides to appointments when others have stopped this service. We also have volunteers that have donated masks and businesses that have donated hand sanitizer for our drivers and patients. We have moved our monthly peer support events to now be virtual events. Now more than ever we want to make sure our patients do not feel alone so we are now meeting weekly. We have hosted 10 events since late February with over 130 attendees. Topics have been nutrition, coping during Covid19, we have had cooking classes, yoga classes and this month we are kicking off a virtual walking challenge for all our regions. We also have survivor mentors that are "adopting patients" newly diagnosed and sending them notes and cards each week.
