Research Methods July Newsletter

Posted on: July 29, 2020

Note from the Editor

It’s a great privilege to commission books in research methods. At a time when we all face continuing uncertainty and stress, the research methods authors have produced fierce books that speak directly to the multiple challenges of diversity, teaching and learning and re-imagining what ‘work’ looks like in this new world, that we all face. In July, I extend particular gratitude to my wonderful series editors Carolyn Ellis, Art Bochner and Tony Adams (Writing Lives: Ethnographic and Autoethnographic Narratives) and Kakali Bhattacharya (Futures of Data Analysis in Qualitative Research). Under their watchful and expert eyes, the authors highlighted below have produced incomparable work that opens up and re-examines the boundaries of scholarship – sometimes throwing away the rule book altogether. I could not be prouder of the work they have produced, and it is an honour to be their publisher.

Virtual Conferences: International Conference of Autoethnography and The Virtual Conference for Qualitative Inquiry

I’d like to highlight two events which move into the new territory of the virtual conference space, and have very kindly allowed us to feature our books for delegates. I am hugely grateful to Kitrina Douglas and James Salvo for creating spaces online that allow the qualitative community to meet and share scholarship.
