Officer who stopped Elijah McClain was fired after photos were revealed that mocked McClain's death

The three cops in the photos sent the images to Jason Rosenblatt, one of the officers who stopped McClain, who responded "haha." One of the officers in the photo had already resigned. The other two in the photo and Rosenblatt have been fired.

Protesters which temporarily blocked the road to the Mount Rushmore National Memorial, ahead of President Trump's Independence Day rally, were dispersed by police and the National Guard. The protest, organised by Native American leaders, condemned the use of the site, which they say was built on sacred tribal land. A planned fireworks display has also drawn criticism due to environmental impacts such as wildfires and water contamination. Fireworks have been banned at the site for over a decade. A small group of protesters who refused to move from the road after several warnings and was arrested without incident.

Vanessa Guillen’s family attorney says that unidentified human remains found in Fort Hood, Texas on Tuesday are believed to be the missing 20-year-old soldier. Lawyer Natalie Khawam also said that Army investigators believe Guillen was killed by a fellow soldier at the base. One female suspect has been charged with conspiracy to tamper with evidence and is being held in the Bell County Jail. The Killeen Police Department said a male suspect tied to Guillen's disappearance from the Fort Hood Army post died by suicide on Wednesday.
