In more than two decades at the Los Angeles Times, Daniel Gaines was financial markets editor during the 1990s, then one of the first print newsroom editors to join the website staff in the early days of the internet. After a three-year hiatus, he returned to The Times in December 2018 to work on digital projects and strategy.
