Hearings before a subcommittee of the Committee on the District of Columbia, United States Senate, Sixty-sixth Congress, first session, pursuant to S. Res. 150, directing the Committee on the District of Columbia to make investigation of prices, rents, and related subjects in the District of Columbia. July 1919.
Profiteering was a significant topic of political discussion in 1919 as the country wound down from World War and mentioned in Wilson’s State of the Union address as well as in an August 1919 address to a joint session of Congress.
Sunday Star – 8-24-1919; P. 2 highlights some of the Congressional action being taken in response to Wilson’s demands to address alleged profiteering.
