Wanvig, who came up with the current version of Goldy in the mid-1980s, died at his home in Burnsville on June 6 after a long battle with cancer.

"It is with tremendous sadness and pain that I share that my father, Nur Omar Mohamed, passed away today due to complications from COVID-19," Rep. Ilhan Omar said.
