An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.5 struck near Clearlake, Calif., Wednesday, according to the United States Geological Survey.

The quake hit at 10:34 a.m. local time with an epicenter 3.5 miles from Cobb, 16.2 miles from Healdsburg and 20 miles from Windsor.

The USGS's Shake Map revealed the jolt was felt in the Clear Lake area and as far south as Santa Rosa.

A Twitter user living three kilometers from the epicenter said the quake made his "dog start whining."
