- June 5, 2020 - Napa County is reporting 3 new cases for a total of 129 confirmed cases of COVID-19, 32 active cases and three (3) confirmed deaths. A total of 10,683 individuals have been tested, with 10,510 negative test results, 44 tested patients awaiting results and 113 individuals currently being monitored due to having had close contact to a confirmed case. Of the confirmed cases, 94 individuals have recovered.
- June 4, 2020 - Napa County is reporting 2 new cases for a total of 126 confirmed cases of COVID-19, 29 active cases and three (3) confirmed deaths. A total of 10,375 individuals have been tested, with 10,206 negative test results, 43 tested patients awaiting results and 104 individuals currently being monitored due to having had close contact to a confirmed case. Of the confirmed cases, 94 individuals have recovered.
- June 3, 2020 - Napa County is reporting 11 new cases for a total of 124 confirmed cases of COVID-19, 32 active cases and three (3) confirmed deaths. A total of 9763 individuals have been tested, with 9580 negative test results, 59 tested patients awaiting results and 108 individuals currently being monitored due to having had close contact to a confirmed case. Of the confirmed cases, 89 individuals have recovered.
- June 2, 2020 - Napa County is reporting zero (0) new cases for a total of 113 confirmed cases of COVID-19, 21 active cases and three (3) confirmed deaths. A total of 9468 individuals have been tested, with 9297 negative test results, 58 tested patients awaiting results and 93 individuals currently being monitored due to having had close contact to a confirmed case. Of the confirmed cases, 89 individuals have recovered.
- June 1, 2020 - Napa County is reporting 113 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with three (3) confirmed deaths. A total of 9151 individuals have been tested in Napa County and 8978 tests were negative and 60 tested patients are awaiting test results. There are 92 individuals that are currently being monitored due to having a close contact to a confirmed case. Of the confirmed cases, 89 individuals have recovered.
- May 30, 2020 - Napa County is reporting 112 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with three (3) confirmed deaths. A total of 8950 individuals have been tested in Napa County and 8782 tests were negative and 56 tested patients are awaiting test results. - May 29, 2020 - Napa County is reporting 111 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with three (3) confirmed deaths. - May 27, 2020 - Napa County is reporting 109 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with three (3) confirmed deaths. April 1, 2020 - Napa County is reporting 18 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with one (1) confirmed death. A total of 391 individuals have been tested in Napa County and 280 tests were negative and 93 tested patients are awaiting test results. There are 68 individuals that are being monitored due to having a close contact to a confirmed case.
Napa County is in the process of extending and updating the current Shelter-At-Home order to be consistent with orders that have been extended throughout the Bay Area and with guidance provided by the State of California. We expect to have an order to release to the public no later than Friday, April 3rd at Noon. When complete, the updated order will be posted on the Napa County website, on social media, communicated via Nixle and released to the media.- March 31, 2020 - Napa County has confirmed one additional case of COVID-19 for a total of 15 cases. The patient is in the unincorporated area near the City of Napa. Isolation and quarantine orders are in effect and an investigation is underway. Napa County Public Health reported the first confirmed death of a Napa County resident due to COVID-19. The death occurred on March 31st. The adult patient was being treated at a hospital. Pending notification of immediate family and due to confidentiality laws, no other information is being released at this time. - March 30, 2020 - Napa County’s COVID-19 case count remains at 14. Of the 260 individuals tested for COVID-19, only 98 results remain pending and 148 are negative. Nine of the cases are residents of the City of Napa, three are residents of the City of St. Helena, one is a resident of the City of Calistoga, and one is a resident of the City of American Canyon.
- March 29, 2020 - Napa County has confirmed four additional cases of COVID 19 for a total of 14 cases. All four cases are in the City of Napa. One had exposure to a previously confirmed case, one had exposure from travel outside the country, and two are in the same household. Isolation and quarantine orders are in place and Napa County Public Health is conducting its investigation.
- March 28, 2020 - Napa County has identified a 10th case of COVID-19. The patient is in the City of Napa and is under isolation and quarantine orders. Napa County Public Health is conducting its investigation.
- March 27, 2020 - Napa County has confirmed its 9th case of COVID-19. The patient is in the City of St. Helena and has a direct relationship with a case previously confirmed. Isolation and quarantine is in effect and Public Health is conducting their investigation.
- March 26, 2020 - Napa County Public Health confirmed one additional case of COVID-19 for a total of seven cases.Napa County Public Health Officials are conducting their investigation. The patient is a resident of the City of Calistoga, and is in isolation. Public Health staff is actively working to identify close contacts.
- March 25, 2020 - Napa County Public Health confirmed 3 additional cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Napa County, bringing the current total to six. Two of the additional cases are residents of the City of Napa, while one is a resident of American Canyon. Napa County Public Health Officials are conducting their investigation and actively working to identify close contacts.
- March 24, 2020 - Napa County Public Health confirmed a third local case of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Napa County. Napa County Public Health Officials are conducting their investigation. Due to medical privacy requirements and to protect identity, further information about this case will not be released at this time. The County will provide general updates when available and as appropriate. The patient is in isolation and Public Health staff are working to identify close contacts.
- March 22, 2020 - Napa County confirmed its first case of COVID-19 on the morning of 3/22 and its second case in the afternoon of the same day. Napa County has issued legal orders for both patients to isolate themselves and for close contacts to quarantine themselves. The General Public should continue to comply with the Shelter-At-Home Order and practice social distancing of at least 6 feet when out seeking essential services or getting fresh air or exercise.
- March 20, 2020 - Napa County’s Shelter-at-Home Order went into effect as of 12:00 a.m. on March 20, 2020 and will continue until 11:59 p.m. on April 7, 2020 or until otherwise modified. Governor Newsom also issued a Shelter at Home order for all of California effective the night of March 19, 2020. - March 17, 2020 - Napa County’s Public Health Officer has issued a new Public Health Order limiting public and private gatherings. The key points of the order are:
- Effective as of 12:01 a.m. on March 18, 2020, and continuing until 11:59 p.m. on April 7, 2020, public or private gatherings of 50 or more persons are hereby prohibited in the County except as necessary to perform essential government functions.
- Public or private gatherings of fewer than 50 persons are permitted in the County only if hosts or sponsors implement all of the COVID-19 risk mitigation measures (see Health Order).
- The Health Officer strongly cautions that persons aged 65 years and older, and persons of any age with certain underlying health conditions should avoid all gatherings of any size and at any location, because these persons are at increased risk of severe illness should they contract COVID-19.
Contrary to erroneous media reports, Napa County HAS NOT issued a shelter-in place order similar to other Bay Area counties. Napa County Public Health continues to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic closely, and updated orders will be issued as the situation dictates.
Testing supplies remain limited nationwide and Napa County is working to pool testing resources and prioritize testing based on risk. A testing site should be implemented this week—however, testing will need to be ordered by a healthcare provider and the patient will be referred to the testing site by Napa County Public Health.
- March 15, 2020 - The Governor of California, Gavin Newsom has advised all those age 65 or over OR those living with a chronic condition (such as heart disease, lung disease or diabetes) to isolate themselves at home. In addition, the Governor has issued a directive for the closure of all bars, nightclubs, breweries, and wineries. Restaurants may remain open, but must lower their occupancies by half and space tables approximately 6 feet apart. California currently has 335 cases and 6 deaths (1 in a non-CA resident). As of now, Napa County remains with 0 confirmed cases.
- March 13, 2020 - Napa County has no confirmed cases of COVID-19. California has 247 confirmed cases and 5 deaths. Napa County prepared a local emergency declaration, following yesterday’s local health emergency in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Both items will be brought to the Board of Supervisors, March 17, 2020 to be ratified. A health order has been enacted to restrict visitors to long term care residential care facilities to limit their exposure to COVID-19.
- March 12, 2020 - Dr. Karen Relucio, Napa County Public Health Officer, declared a local health emergency for Napa County in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Napa County has zero confirmed cases at this time. Late evening of March 11, 2020, Gov. Newsom announced that California public health officials had issued an updated directive on mass gatherings. The governor stated that the state’s public health experts have determined that gatherings should be postponed or canceled across the state until at least the end of March. This does not apply to workplaces, or essential education settings.
Further, to protect public health and slow the spread of COVID-19, non-essential gatherings must be limited to no more than 250 people, while smaller events can proceed only if the organizers can implement social distancing of 6 feet per person. Gatherings of individuals who are at higher risk for severe illness (e.g. older adults and those with underlying illness) from COVID-19 should be limited to no more than 10 people, while also following social distancing guidelines.Lastly, effective today, the Napa County Public Health Division is restricting visitors to all long-term care and skilled nursing facilities in the county. This is necessary to protect older and medically fragile adults residing in these facilities, who are particularly vulnerable to severe disease and death from COVID-19. March 11, 2020 - Napa County has 0 confirmed cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19), and additional testing kits are gradually becoming available to Napa County. There have been 177 cases and three deaths in California. The third death has been reported, an individual in their 90s from Sacramento County who was in an assisted living care facility. The World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a global pandemic, on March 11, 2020. Napa County remains committed to ensuring a safe and healthy community for all, and will continue to work closely with federal, state and local partners on the response to COVID-19. As cases in California rise, the overall strategy will change from containment to community mitigation. March 9, 2020 - Napa County has 0 confirmed cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19), and additional testing kits are gradually becoming available to Napa County. There have been 133 cases reported in California, not including the Grand Princess Cruise ship that is docked in Oakland. The second death has been reported, a Santa Clara County woman in her 60s who had been hospitalized for several weeks.
March 6, 2020 - There have been 69 cases of COVID-19 reported in California and one death (Placer County, 3/4/20) has been reported. The death occurred in an older man with underlying conditions who was likely exposed while traveling on the Grand Princess Cruise ship from San Francisco to Mexico in February. Napa County has between 10 and 20 residents known to have been passengers on that leg of the cruise, but at this time there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 among Napa County residents.
March 4, 2020 - Placer County reported the first death from COVID-19 in California. The death occurred in an older man with underlying conditions who was likely exposed while traveling on a Princess cruise ship from San Francisco to Mexico in February. An additional 10 deaths have occurred in Washington State. To date there have been 53 cases reported in California. This is a rapidly evolving situation. March 3, 2020 - On March 1, Alameda County Public Health and Solano Public Health reported that two health care workers were presumptively positive for COVID-19. Both had exposure to a community-acquired case hospitalized in Sacramento. As of 3/2/20, there have been six deaths reported in association with an outbreak of COVID-19 in Washington State. February 28, 2020 - A second coronavirus case of unknown origin was confirmed in Santa Clara County. This follows identification of a case on 2/26 that is believed to be the first community-acquired COVID-19 infection in the United States. This is a rapidly evolving situation. February 26, 2020 - A patient in Solano County with no known travel to affected areas was diagnosed with COVID-19. This means that exposure may have occurred within the community and this may be the first case of community-acquired COVID-19 in the United States. This is a rapidly evolving situation. February, 17, 2020 - Two patients under investigation for COVID-19 arrived at the Queen of the Valley Medical Center (QVMC) from Travis Air Force Base in Solano County. The patients were flown to Travis AFB from Japan, where they were under quarantine on the Diamond Princess Cruise ship. These patients were transported under extremely controlled conditions accompanied by medical staff, and were immediately placed in isolation rooms when they were transferred from the base, eliminating the risk of exposure. QVMC is well equipped to handle these patients; the staff are well trained and the facility is a modern, high level medical center.
