The Oxford Research Encyclopedia of Global Public Health is part of a major initiative from Oxford University Press to transform its approach to reference publishing in order to better serve the changing needs of university-level digital research.

Through the Oxford Research Encyclopedia (ORE) program, Oxford is building dynamic online encyclopedias in 20+ disciplines that will be continuously updated by the world's leading scholars, scientists, and researchers. With expert editors and peer-review, the ORE project will combine the discoverability of digital with the standards of academic publishing.

The Oxford Research Encyclopedia of Global Public Health is overseen by David Ludden of New York University and an editorial board of subject experts, ensuring a comprehensive, encyclopedic map of the field.

Updated monthly, the Oxford Research Encyclopedia of Global Public Health will grow with the field over time. Multi-media features embedded in articles, along with cross-referenced links to related content will further expand the scope of the ORE. With in-depth peer-reviewed articles and broad coverage of the field the Oxford Research Encyclopedia of Global Public Health will become an invaluable resource.

The ORE of Global Public Health is currently freely available as scholarly articles are gradually added to the site.

Editorial Board

David V. McQueen is retired from 20 years at the CDC in Atlanta where he served government as Chief of the behavioral risk factor surveillance system (BRFSS), Director of the Division of Adult and Community Health (DACH) and as Associate Director for Global Health Promotion. He has held Professorships and served on the faculties of the University of Edinburgh, where he directed the Research Unit in Health and Behavioral Change, 1983-1992, and The Johns Hopkins University, SHPH, 1972-1983. He also brings rich NGO experience as a globally elected Board Member of the Paris-based International Union of Health Promotion and Education (IUHPE) where he spent eight years as the Vice President for Science, four years as President, and is now the Immediate past President. He has been a member or chair on numerous consultancies and committees with the World Bank, World Health Organization, the Canadian Government, as well as other public and private agencies. He brings editorial experience as a member, present and past, of several editorial boards. He is widely published in academic journals and the author/editor of several books. He is currently an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Health Education at Emory University in Atlanta.
