Very cheap price for D.C., close to the city centre, it is not possible to control A/C therefore upper beds are quite warm and bottom cold. Bathroom was clean, missing some place for your clothes while showering. Kitchen had some problem and water was all over the floor, but well equipped. Got free beers on Friday evening 😊 my third visit and will absolutely come back once in DC

My visit to D.C was awesome except for the accommodations. The young black lady named Lisa that worked there was very insulting. She talked down to everyone about not knowing how to clean up after themselves. I witnessed her literally yelling at a young guy asking him why he was still staying at the hostel. She told him that he didn't belong there. He politely told her that he had extended. Then while I was making myself a meal she came in and asked very rudely if I was going to wash my dishes...not politely remind me to. I also witnessed her yelling at other staff members because she felt like they were taking someones side and not hers. Then she started talking very badly about several other staff members...and she also told...no I mean yelled at another staff member that she was just like the others. Honestly...her whole behavior and demeanor was very disgusting. When I asked if I could use the laundry facilities she said as if she was talking down to me that I could not use it because I had just checked In and that I had to wait till the next day. I was there for 4 days and even though I saw her work there the first day...every time I saw her she was trashing this staffer or this guest. I almost did not come back just because of her. (The accommodations were like you'd expect in an older hostel...not perfect but it was comfortable. So When I had to come back a week later to stay for a few more days before my flight home,I chose the location because it was familiar.)Even when I came back, she was the same. She wasn't the one that checked me in but the next day when she was working, I was sitting and watching a movie in the common area when she abruptly turned off the tv and said that I couldn't watch what I was watching because it was offensive and That I had to use the dinning room tv instead...(I was literally watching A documentary...)Then later I heard her yell again at another staffer for something to stupid to even mention. I mean FIRE HER SHE IS TOXIC.

Old, run down and dirty. Then there's the staff... Stayed two nights in a private room which was expensive for what it is - over $110 per night. First morning we were woken up by staff twice for payment because we had arrived very late the night before when the office was closed. First time at 9 said we would come down and pay on our way out for the day, second time at 11 they chose to wake us up again because we had not come down - we arrived late (which the staff obviously knew) and wanted a sleep in but not at this place. Totally unnecessary when a deposit had been paid. Second morning they actually enter the room unannounced at 10.20 waking us up to tell us check out is at 11.00. Again unnecessary and strange. Showers dribble water and have no soap. One toilet for a whole floor. We had to ask for towels - none in the room. We were provided what could only be described as worn scraps.

Response from Dc L, Manager at Capital View
Responded Jul 14, 2019
thank you for your comment - as we surely ask staff to be more understanding. To provide more context - we had no idea if you were arriving that night, as we didn't receive any communication or confirmation. The staff expected the room to be empty // we send the codes out just in case if guests show up, SINCE the deposit was charged, rather than assume a no-show. Sorry about staff confusion, and we'll remind them about 11 AM check-out policy for ourselves. All the showers and bathrooms are accessible throughout the building, and we do provide fresh and clean (we buy new ones constantly) towels, if something sneaked in that shouldn't be there, we would change right away - will be checking on them right now. Sorry about the rates - we do try and make it affordable, but DC supply and demand curves are a bit crazy sometimes. $110+ per night was the cheapest private room, with the hotels in the area charging $300+ for one night, Thank you

The hostel is well located, convenient to the train and bus depots, and also to the main attractions. We were able to walk most places which was a good way to see the city. The room was clean and well-equipped with large lockers and individual plug sockets at the beds, however it did look a bit more worn that the photos displayed on here. We had an issue on the first night where the room was unbearably hot - we were unable to find staff overnight but it was resolved asap the next morning. We arrived back to the room on the second night to find the security code on our door had been changed without notice, which was irritating but luckily there was somebody in the room who told us the new code. All in all, it was a decent hostel and I would return if I was in DC.

Firstly be aware the photos on this website are from two different buildings. The building I stayed in was "tired" and looked nothing like the photos. Although my bed was clean, the kitchen was dirty. Fortunately I had bought home a salad for tea. The bathroom basin taps were loose and shower heads needed to be cleaned. There was a rat on the roof. Yes it was close to Union Station, that is its only saving grace. The deposit I thought I had paid to the hostel, is apparantly Hostelworlds fee. So I had to pay full price. Certainly makes the UK hostels look like 5 Star. BT OZ
