Yellow fever campaign launches in Khartoum State as final phase of countrywide immunization drive
7 November 2019 - The final phase of the yellow fever vaccination campaign targeting more than 30 million people across Sudan was launched this week in Khartoum State. Almost 7.5 million people are targeted in the 7 localities of Khartoum State, including displaced people living in camps and temporary shelters, as well as refugees and migrants. With the launch of this final phase of the campaign, all people ages 9 months to 60 years living in Sudan’s 18 states will have been reached with the yellow fever vaccine.
Partners join forces in Brazil to eliminate yellow fever epidemics in the world
30 October 2019 – Experts, member states, vaccine manufacturers, and other international partners gathered in Brasilia, Brazil to help ensure that more than 1 billion people will be protected against yellow fever by 2026. The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) hosted the event, which was co-organized by WHO's Eliminate Yellow Fever Epidemics (EYE) Secretariat, UNICEF and Gavi - The Vaccine Alliance.
EYE call to research and developers to accelerate towards improved yellow fever diagnostics
1 October 2019 - The global Eliminate Yellow fever Epidemics (EYE) Strategy is committed to strengthening surveillance and diagnostic capacity in countries and regions. EYE and partners have been working with the Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics (FIND) to improve diagnostics for yellow fever. The development of target product profiles (TPPs) is intended to catalyze the development of new and improved options to diagnosis yellow fever.
Nigeria conducts a reactive yellow fever campaign targeting 500,000 people in Bauchi state
16 September 2019 – In response to the outbreak of Yellow fever in Bauchi State, a yellow fever reactive vaccination campaign was conducted between 12 September and 19 September 2019 in Alkaleri Local Government Area.
Nigeria launches Yellow fever vaccination reactive campaign to contain outbreak in Ebonyi State
7 September 2019 - The Federal Government, in collaboration with WHO, Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance and partners, is launching a yellow fever reactive vaccination campaign in three States to help control an expanding yellow fever outbreak in Nigeria identified in Ebonyi State. The vaccination campaign targets 1.6 million people.
