    تبلغ ليان من العمر ٣ سنوات. يتحمل جسدها الصغير أعباء وآلام مرض الثلاسيميا-- وهو اضطراب دم وراثي. توفر العلاج لمرضى الثلاسيميا يقيهم من المضاعفات التي تعرض حياتهم للخطر. يتم علاج ليان في مستشفى مدعوم من قبل منظمة الصحة العالمية بفضل دعم البنك الدولي.

    يحتاج مرضى السرطان والفشل الكلوي إلى الرعاية الطبية والنفسية معاً. لدعم العاملين الصحيين في مراكز غسيل الكلى وعلاج السرطان بالمهارات اللازمة للاستجابة للاحتياجات النفسية للمرضى، قامت منظمة الصحة العالمية والبنك الدولي بتدريبهم في مجال الصحة العقلية والدعم النفسي والاجتماعي.
