The Claremont Colleges Library serves five undergraduate liberal arts colleges, two graduate institutions and The Claremont Colleges Services in Southern California. About Allegheny College
Allegheny College, founded in 1815, is a highly selective private college of 2,100 undergraduates. Founded in 1866, the American University of Beirut bases its educational philosophy, standards, and practices on the American liberal arts model of higher education and currently offers more than 120 programs leading to the bachelor's, master's, MD, and PhD degrees. The AUB Libraries include the Jafet Memorial Library, Saab Medical Library, Engineering and Architecture Library, and the Science and Agriculture Library with its annex, the Farm Library. The collections consist of 390000 print book titles in 470000 volumes, 6750 print periodicals in 180000 volumes, and 350000 electronic books. The Libraries subscribe to over 4500 periodicals, 300 databases and provide access to over 132000 electronic journals and conference proceedings. The Archives and Special Collections contain 1366 manuscripts in 1400 volumes, 8000 volumes of theses, projects, and dissertations going back to 1907, 4500 posters, 2000 maps, 50000 photographs, as well as 160 linear feet of archival papers of famous intellectuals, and 590 linear feet of University archives. The University Libraries employ 40 professional staff (all with master's degree or higher), 56 support staff (34 with college degrees), and 24 student assistants. The University Libraries circulate or renew approximately 50,000 per year and provide instruction sessions to around 9000 students and faculty. About the Northwestern University Library
The Northwestern University Library (NUL) comprises the Main and Deering libraries, the Seeley G. Mudd Science and Engineering Library and the Math Library located on the Evanston campus; and the Schaffner Library on the downtown Chicago campus. NUL 's branch library in Doha, Qatar opened in 2008. The Pritzker Legal Research Center and the Galter Health Sciences Libraries are on the Chicago campus and, though administered separately, cooperate closely on collections, technology, space and staff development. Northwestern's libraries collectively hold more than 4.8 million volumes, 77,000 serial subscriptions, 4.5 million microfilms, 200,000 maps and 18,000 linear feet of manuscripts and archives. The Ohio State University Libraries include the recently renovated William Oxley Thompson Memorial Library, the Prior Health Sciences Library, the Moritz Law Library and a dozen subject libraries on central campus. The system also includes University Archives, the Book Depository and six libraries on the university's regional campuses. The Libraries' print collection includes more than 6.4 million volumes. About University of Wisconsin-Madison Library
The University of Wisconsin-Madison has the 11th largest research library collection in North America, according to a survey by the Association of Research Libraries. Memorial Library, the largest library in Wisconsin, and more than 40 General Library System, professional and special-purpose libraries serve the campus. Every year, approximately 5 million people visit the UW-Madison campus libraries, and online visits to library Web sites exceed 44 million. In 2007, the campus library collections included more than 8 million volumes representing human inquiry through all of history. In addition, there are more than 55,000 serial titles, 6.2 million microfilm items, and hundreds of thousands of government documents, maps, musical scores, audiovisual materials and other items housed in libraries across campus. Nearly 1 million volumes are circulated to library users every year.
The UW libraries also emphasize service. Library staff take an active interest in teaching people how to use information resources. More than 29,000 students, staff and faculty attend library workshops and instructional programs each year. These instructional sessions include tours and hands-on classes about how to use the computer catalog and how to find specialized information. Utah State University is Utah'92s land-grant university and the USU Libraries serve six campuses and multiple centers across Utah, with three separate facilities in Logan, Price, and Blanding. The flagship Merrill-Cazier Library in Logan opened in 2005 and features a variety of inviting and comfortable spaces for study and teaching. The Libraries'92 collections include extensive research collections in all formats, and one of the largest collections of federal/state documents and maps in the intermountain region. The Libraries'92 Special Collections and Archives is home to noteworthy collections of primary source materials in all formats, with an emphasis on the art, literature, and history of the Intermountain West.
