2K today slapped a patch on the glitching wound of WWE 2K20, hoping the game's juddering body wouldn't phase through a floor then launch into orbit before the process could be completed. The game was mighty buggy when it launched last week, see, and not in subtle ways. Our Matt looked at how fun WWE 2K20 glitches were as long as you weren't the person…

Many people, including myself, have only been clued into WWE 2K20’s existence because of some wonderfully gif-able glitches that have been whizzing around the internet like a character model caught in the rapidly-twanging arena ropes. But there are those who actually wanted to play the game as it was intended, and developers Visual Concepts have taken to Twitter to say that they’re aware of the…
WWE 2K20 is broken, which is great for anyone not playing it
Many people are disappointed that wrestle 'em down WWE 2K20 is a mess. Many more people are only aware the game came out yesterday because it is a mess, and those people have spent the morning chuckling at videos on Twitter. Wrestlers. If you can't beat 'em, join the people laughing at them.
NBA 2K20’s loot box-y MyTeam mode even has faux gambling machines
It's quite clear that many games with loot boxes are cribbing from the design and psychology of gambling machines, but it's rare to see this as brazen as in NBA 2K20. For the MyTeam mode (similar to Fifa Ultimate Team) of their next b-ball 'em up, they're going all-in with slot machines, pachinko, and even a spinny prize wheel. Players can't pay money to play…
NBA 2K19 showing (sort of) unskippable ads on loading screens
I'm no basketman. I personally keep several full-length courts away from sport 'em ups, but here I am covering NBA 2K19. That means there is at least one way in which the decision to start showing ads on loading screens in a £40/$60 game has been a success. It is the only one.
The dramatic clotheslines, hairlines, and plotlines of the world's second-best soap opera (after Sunset Beach, obvs) have slammed ito PC once again, as WWE 2K19 launched this morning. 2K's official licensed take on sports entertainment might not be the most technical wrassle 'em up (look more to Fire Pro Wrestling for that) but it is the shiniest, and not just cos 2K hose their sports…
NBA 2K restricts microtransactions in Belgium and the Netherlands to comply with gambling laws
Annual basketball simulator, NBA 2K, has removed aspects of its microtransactions in Belgium and the Netherlands to comply with the countries’ gambling laws. The changes affect the MyTeam mode, which allows players to build a draft via randomised trading card packs, and the “Auction House,” which gives players the ability to do the actual business of trading them.
Are you ready to do a bro-slam from the corner of the fighting pit? Maybe you’d rather clotheshorse your opponent onto the safety mat. Or batterslap them into a Willy Nelson, before delivering a final heel storm? The possibilities are many in WWE 2K18 [official site], which came out yesterday. As an expert in wrestling, I can tell you it is the roughest, toughest and…
This year's WWE wrestlefest will actually launch for PC on the same day as consoles, 2K announced today. WWE 2K18 [official site] will launch off the turnbuckle and slam PC with a flying clothesline on October 17th, and I don't know what to do with myself. One of the annual rhythms of my job is seeing 2K announce the year's annual wrestling game in May…
Slip into your spandex, grease your pecs, and practise your microphone voice as WWE 2K17 [official site] has arrived on PC. Our Adam would tell us all Wot He Thinks but he's in hospital following a Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match for control of the RPS treehouse radio so for now, hey: it's out. Consider yourself informed. Please excuse that ↑ official screenshot; until Adam…
In what has become an annual wrasslin' tradition, WWE 2K17 [official site] is coming to PC on February 7th, months after its console launch. The console version is the best WWE release in the last few years, with marginal improvements in the career mode and creation suites, and better in-ring action. Most notable is the fact that triple threat matches and the like are actually…
Like a thespian Bo Jackson, Michael B. Jordan is acting all the sports. After mastering boxing in Creed and handegg in Friday Night Lights, he'll now tread the boards of the balltobasket stage in NBA 2K17 [official site]. He'll play your custom character's best ballbuddy in the game's MyCareer story mode, where players guide a character of their own creation through life on and off…
I still don't understand why WWE 2K15 [official site] came to PC so many months after the initial console release and, well, here we are again. The latest entry in the pro wrestling series will arrive on PC March 11th, having landed on consoles at the end of October last year. We'll get all of the DLC, and the PC version will be equivalent to…
"Boom shakalaka!" begins this post, indicating how out of touch I am with basketball. My American sport of choice was baseball, really. But I know enough about slamming a fierce jam and high dunking a score off the top turnbuckle to tell you that NBA 2K16 [official site] has arrived. What's new about this year's release? Oh, you know, the usual - it's a Spike…
Feature: A Roadtrip To Suplex City
Professional wrestling is a ridiculous cultural phenomenon and I love it dearly. I also happen to think it's blend of theatre, physical performance and interactive storytelling is ideally suited to gaming. It's a weird and wonderful world that offers all manner of opportunities for interactive storytelling, from heroic fights against the odds to villainous victories and roster management. WWE 2K15 [official site] seizes many of…
WWE 2K15 is coming to PC "this spring". While the latest entry in the series has had something of a rough reception in console land, I'm excited about this. There hasn't been an official WWE game on PC since 2002 and even though this seems like a transitional year at best - Eurogamer call it "actively bad" - 2K do solid sports work elsewhere. They…
In this edition of 'News that emerged during Gamescom but slipped through the net', let us discuss baskets and the balls that so neatly pass through them. NBA 2K15's PC release will be equivalent to the PS4 and XB1 versions, which is good news. When a sporting console release straddles the past and the present, the PC has often found itself relegated to the past,…
