The seventh state continues the truck 'em up's long journey east with another 3500 digimiles of virtuaroad. Watch the new trailer below for a peek at Utah sights including those iconic red rocks, a big hole in the…

Feature: Well?

What are we all playing this weekend?

Here we are, Halloween is over, and video games are still fun of Halloween events. Bit weird. Feels a bit sad. Get over it, yeah? Okay, I did once keep a Christmas up until April because I missed the council's pick-up days and came to quite like having it around. Maybe this Halloween will regrow on me. Even if the shops are quite loudly insisting…

Hearthstone adding Battlegrounds, an Auto Chess-ish mode

Blizzard announced the next Hearthstone expansion, Descent Of Dragons, today at BlizzCon. It'll add new cards with new abilities - the usual expansion stuff. More curiously, Blizzard also announced Hearthstone: Battlegrounds, a new mode they say is inspired by the Auto Chess. Y'know, the burgeoning genre which began as the Dota 2 mod Dota Auto Chess and has already spawned Valve's Dota Underlords and the…

Blizzard’s president apologised on stage at BlizzCon for Hearthstone Hong Kong omnishambles

Blizzard could announce Diablo IV, Overwatch 2, a new WoW expansion, and Hearthstone Auto Chess live on stage at BlizzCon--and they did--but none of that would sit right if they didn't address the cloud over this year's fanfest. Their decision to harshly punish a Hearthstone pro player for declaring "Liberate Hong Kong, revolution of our age!" in a post-match interview has upset many over the…

Overwatch 2 announced, adding a hearty kick of PvE

After a run of leaks and rumours, Blizzard today announced Overwatch 2 at BlizzCon. The FPS sequel will feature "a ton" of PvE and story bits, director Jeff Kaplan said in stage at BlizzCon, including "highly replayable" cooperative missions. A new core PvP mode is in too, along with new maps, new characters, and new looks for old characters. It'll feature cross-game multiplayer with the…

World Of Warcraft: Shadowlands will tear into the afterlife

After a world's been trashed enough, how can you further raise the stakes (and the ruckus)? Mate, stuff it, tear open a route into the afterlife and give the already-dead a kicking. Blizzard today announced Shadowlands, the eighth World Of Warcraft expansion, where Sylvanas Windrunner will do just that. Off we'll go into heck, exploring, murdering, and meeting new people.

Diablo IV announced, looking awfully bloody

After a number of reported false starts, Blizzard were today finally ready to announce Diablo IV. Oh dear oh dear, someone's only gone and released another ancient evil, so once again it's up to us to click on monsters until their bellies burst with a blast of gold and swords. Lilith, the Daughter of Hatred, is the big nasty this time. She created the world…

Fallout 76 Australian players will get refunds they were denied

ZeniMax, the parent company of Bethesda, will offer refunds on Fallout 76 to many Australian customers who were previously denied them. They'd previously said the people weren't entitled to refunds under ZeniMax rules, but Australian authorities piped up to point out that Australian laws meant yes, they were. This isn't a slam on Fallout 76, just another games company doing international business without understanding local…

WWE 2K20 gets a much-needed patch

2K today slapped a patch on the glitching wound of WWE 2K20, hoping the game's juddering body wouldn't phase through a floor then launch into orbit before the process could be completed. The game was mighty buggy when it launched last week, see, and not in subtle ways. Our Matt looked at how fun WWE 2K20 glitches were as long as you weren't the person…

New Zealand banned a mass shooting game as a “terrorist publication”

New Zealand authorities have banned a mass shooting FPS which draws inspiration from the terrorist attacks on mosques in Christchurch this March, declaring The Shitposter a "terrorist publication". Chief censor David Shanks called it "a product created for and marketed to white supremacists who are interested in supporting and celebrating white extremist attacks." We'd so far ignored this the game because it's a tedious attempt…

If Netflix’s Witcher isn’t based on the games, why that shot of Geralt in the bath?

The upcoming Netflix show The Witcher is not based on the games, Netflix insist, but rather the same Andrzej Sapkowski books that inspired the games. That doesn't mean that they're not influenced by the games, mind. I suspect they'd never be making this if CD Projekt Red hadn't made Geralt a star. Netflix today released a trailer announcing a December 20th launch date, and the…

Death Stranding isn’t on PC until next year but we can still watch the PS4 launch trailer

Now that we know Death Stranding will come to PC next year, following its PlayStation 4 launch next week, hey look I guess we can post about it more. Such as, here's the eight-minute PS4 launch trailer for Hideo Kojima's first post-Metal Gear game. I know some console pals have regretted watching the trailer, fearing it spoils too much, but: 1) I'll have forgotten all…

Destiny 2’s Altars Of Sorrow understands sometimes you’re an idiot who wants to spawncamp moonmonsters until it rains candy

Along with a new dungeon and Halloween event, yesterday's Destiny 2 update slipped in a surprise new open-world public activity on the Moon, named Altars Of Sorrow. It is a beautiful demonstration of how, sometimes, the saviours of humanity are so drunk on loot they'll idly blindfire into an enemy spawn point until the ground glitters with goodies. This is how Altars Of Sorrow goes.…

Stigmatized Property isn’t a surprising horror game but it’s fun enough

Having recently moved in a flat with rent I still find suspiciously cheap, wee new first-person horror game Stigmatized Property feels a touch too familiar. Our pal has got swish digs in the backstreets of a Japanese city but doesn't seem to be home when we come calling, and what's up with that? Unpleasantness is what. I've enjoyed gently probing that, wandering the alleys and…

Final Fantasy XIV crosses over with Nier: Automata today

The heartbreakingly human androids of Nier: Automata today returned, sadly not with a sequel but in a Final Fantasy XIV crossover. Bully for you if you play the MMORPG, I suppose. For me, well, I suppose it makes me a little more sad - and isn't that what Nier is really all about? You're having an inferior Nier experience if you do play the new…

Destiny 2 starts Halloween event and opens new dungeon today

A whole lot of haunting hits Destiny 2 today, with the start of its Halloween event and the launch of a new dungeon. Festival Of The Lost is for all players, sending us back along branches of the Infinite Forest to mash monsters and grab sweeties to swap for rewards. Destineers who own the Shadowkeep expansion get even spookier treats: a new dungeon diving into…

Fortnite summons the Storm King for a spooky PvE boss battle event

Halloween has arrived in Fortnite Battle Royale with a honking great cooperative boss battle in an event mode like something out of an MMORPG. The Storm King LTM sees the big boy and his undead armies rise again and sends a few dozen players out to stop him. I've had a few cracks myself and been surprised by quite how tough the fight is.

I am partially sorry for interrupting Destiny raids to take screenshots of this magnificent spacegarden

Dear fireteam, Last night we finished Destiny 2: Shadowkeep's Garden Of Salvation raid for the seventh time, and once again I held everyone up while I paused to take screenshots. I am sorry. Ish. Sorry-ish. As I told you when I paused beneath the vast paddlewheels churning up canals of liquid consciousness to take snaps of a cherry tree, it was definitely necessary for work.…
