Dialogue with representatives of the video games and related industries on public health implications of gaming

The first-ever dialogue between representatives of the video games and related industries and the World Health Organization was convened by the WHO Secretariat on 3 December 2018 at WHO’s Geneva Headquarters.

The dialogue was based on a global focus and major umbrella organizations and companies operating at the international level of the video games sector were invited.

The main objectives of the dialogue were to provide information on WHO’s activities on the public health implications of gaming and exchange views on the role that the video games and related industries may play in contributing to public health objectives.

The participants expressed a shared willingness to continue the dialogue with in-depth discussions on the role of the video games and related industries in contributing to public health objectives. The next dialogue is tentatively planned to take place in 2019.

The dialogue does not imply collaboration or partnership between WHO and representatives of the video games and related industries.
