20,000 Fallout 76 power armour helmets are being recalled due to health risk

Just as it seemed like Bethesda had sorted their issues with nylon collector's bags, it turns out they've gone and sold a health hazard disguised as a Fallout 76 helmet. Manufacturer Chronicle has issued a recall of an estimasted 20,000 T-51b Power Armor collectible helmets sold by US retailer GameStop over a risk of mold exposure.

Fallout 76’s first raid unlocks, welcoming you to a greenhouse of terror

The heavy doors of post-apocalyptic West Virginia are finally chu-chunking open, like rusty flowers waking up to the nuclear spring. Vault 94 has joined Fallout 76’s titular vault, opening itself to the oddball Appalachians and asking them to investigate what went wrong down there in the plant-choked bunker.

Have You Played…Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners Of The Earth?

Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth was one of the first attempts to put H.P.Lovecraft's Cthulhu mythos in game form. It's definitely not the first (point-and-click adventure Shadow Of The Comet predates it significantly). However, it's the first one to truly get the horror element of Lovecraft's writing in at least one or two moments.

Doom Eternal release date, gameplay, trailer, multiplayer

Quakecon brought more Doom Eternal information, specifically about "Battlemode" - the new 2v1 multiplayer mode. While we never got clarification if the "invading players games" was a thing or something that was removed, we did get a very good look at the new multiplayer from their presentation. The following contains all the information you want for Doom Eternal, from the multiple trailers to the all-important…

Daggerfall Unity renovates Bethesda’s 1996 RPG with all mod cons

I never played The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall. How could I? I was two years old, geez, give me a break. No, my Elder Scrolls journey started with Oblivion. My experience is forever tied to Wes Johnson's goofy barks and that video where the guy goes "Have you heard of the high elves?" Still, Daggerfall is a tantalising mystery. It's a 62,0000-square mile colossus that's…

Bethesda detail updates coming to Fallout 76, including Vault raids and Wastelanders

Bethesda have detailed many changes coming to Fallout 76 at their QuakeCon panel, giving some new insights into Vault raids, and the NPC-driven expansion Wastelanders, and a new map coming to battle royale mode Nuclear Winter, as well as a slew of smaller developments.

Doom Eternal details its multiplayer Battlemode

Id Software have given some more details about Doom Eternal’s multiplayer experience, Battlemode, at its QuakeCon presentation. It’ll be based on an asymmetrical structure, putting one Slayer up against two demons. There’ll be five different classes of demons to choose from, so you can mix up how you play. Or, you know, play Doom like you would in the singleplayer campaign as the Slayer, except…

Rage 2 update brings New Game+ and some bloody hard new modes

Do you remember Rage 2? It had this whole wacky pink-neon punk vibe going on before launch. For a hot second, I was pumped to become some mad blue-haired lass battering the wasteland with a baseball bat. Turns out, nah, you're some future cop called Walker (who in a cruel twist, drives around more than they walk) out to ruin the party for everyone. Rubbish.…

Wolfenstein: Youngblood review

Every time you find a new gun in Wolfenstein: Youngblood, B.J. Blazkowicz's twin daughters gush about how their daddy killed a bunch of Nazis with it. "Cor", Jess will say, "remember when Dad told us about all those Nazis he vaporised?". "Yeah", Soph will respond, "that was tubular." When I think about how best to sum up Wolfenstein 2's co-op semi-sequel, tubular is not the…

Tag-team Nazi-blaster Wolfenstein: Youngblood is out now

It's twenty years after Blaskowicz's last big bash. When a night-out goes wrong on a foreign business trip, BJ's gone and done a runner in Paris (it's lovely this time of year). This summer, Twin kids Jess and Soph are on the case in Wolfenstein: Youngblood. The Blazkowicz sisters are about to take on a Nazi-slashing road trip from hell across the city of lights.…

Wolfenstein: Youngblood will launch a day early on PC, this Thursday

Because reasons, compunauts will get to play Wolfenstein: Youngblood one day earlier than our console brethren. The cooperative Nazi-smashing shooter was slated to launch on Friday the 26th, Bethesda have shouted across millions of dollars of marketing, but now they've quietly mentioned it'll be out on PC from Thursday the 25th. Alright. Sure. Thanks. Inform your co-op partner that plans have changed. Or if you're…

Former Fallout level designer shares what makes a good Easter Egg

Sometimes a skeleton is just a skeleton. They're bloody everywhere in the Fallout games, so you could easily overlook just one more. Sometimes, however -- like in the Fallout 4 instance above -- it's a clever multi-layered nod to a friend. Earlier today, former Bethesda level designer Joel Burgess shared a few of his stories and favourite hidden creations via Twitter. It's some good insight,…

Fallout 76 extends Nuclear Winter testing

After launching Fallout 76's new battle royale mode into a short testing phase during the E3 hubbub, Bethesda have now said they're extending that. Originally due to end today, the "pre-beta sneak peek" of Nuclear Winter will now run indefinitely, receiving updates along the way. Which sounds like a soft launch to me. Particularly given that battle royale is an FPS genre rooted in early…

Nuclear Winter is the logical thematic conclusion to Bethesda’s Fallouts

Bethesda announced at E3 this week that Fallout 76 would be getting a battle royale mode, called Nuclear Winter, with a “sneak peek” already available to play. I tried it. I had a truly horrible experience with a nuke. And I concluded that this is just what Bethesda Fallouts are now: nihilistic romps through destroyed wastelands that care little for examining the societies that created…

Fallout 76 adding human NPCs and of course a battle royale mode

Bethesda announced tonight that they're bringing two revolutionary new features to Fallout 76: human NPCs and a battle royale mode. Far out, man. Where do they get these ideas? Wild, just wild. Give me some of what they're on, right? Ha ha! They're sticking with their multiplayer survival sandbox after its shonky launch, mind, and judging by the wild hooting from the audience of industry…

The Evil Within studio spooking us again with GhostWire: Tokyo

Tango Gameworks, the studio behind the splendid spookings of The Evil Within, have announced a new spooky game and I can't tell you much of anything about it. It's set in a Tokyo where some manner of bad rapture has happened, and we're left to fight ghosties. Not the good type of rapture, where those of us left behind are free to listen to rock…

Doom Eternal brings veiny vistas and violence to November

I'm sure the chainsaws and shotguns and evisceration of Doom Eternal are grand and all but tonight when watching the trailer announcing its release date, I could only think "Ooh that's a lovely landscape." Hellish gates opening to reveal a Bosch-esque, Babel-y spire is a good view. A wee snippet of pure red figures bowing in synchronised worship is grand. I like that the smooth…

Deathloop is the next game from the Dishonored gang

Arkane Studios, the gang behind Dishonored and the new Prey, tonight announced their latest game, a first-person shooter trapped in a deadly time loop - hence the name Deathloop. I mean, I'm assuming it's a time loop but details are real thin for now. It's definitely set in some sort of loop, on a weird sci-fi island where two assassins are forever murdering each other.…

9 underrated Morrowind characters and the spin-off games they deserve

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind might have come out 17 years ago, but it is still lauded as one of PC gaming’s greats. Set on the island of Vvardenfell, players were able to create their own character and could choose whether to take on the mantle of the Nerevarine, saving the island from deadly blight storms and false gods. Or just spend hours exploring the…
