Selflessness
Tenacious Faith and Selfless Service
If we show tenacious faith and are prepared to lose ourselves in service, our Father in Heaven will prepare the way for us to accomplish all that He asks of us. I pray that we can be instruments in our Father in Heaven’s hands in doing His will and that we will find great and eternal joy in His service.
The Power of One: Selfless Service
To be like the Savior is to be whole, which implies that we are engaged in acts of selfless service. Selfless service requires personal action, a desire to pick up our beds and walk. It is easy to give away excess money, used equipment, and used clothing. It is more difficult to give of our time, to give of our personal presence to help others.
The Lord's Goods
Brothers and sisters, we are all servants. We have received talents that are indeed the Lord’s goods. Those goods should help us develop His attributes.
Love—A Manifestation from God
I challenge each of us to remember we are part of our Father in Heaven’s earthly family, and we should love each other as our Father in Heaven and Jesus Christ love us.
Honest, Simple, Solid, True
Hearkening to the call of Christ from His Spirit, or through another’s countenance, or both, we become genuinely honest, simple, solid, true—often together with someone we may not have trusted before.
Selflessness—Selfishness
Almost all of the problems in our lives, our families, and our communities could be solved if we would simply replace our selfishness with selflessness. With selflessness we demonstrate our true relationship and intimacy with the Savior. It is the link that binds together the family of God.
“Mirror, Mirror, on the Wall”: A Look at the “Me Decade”
Our greatest fulfillment and joy, the focus of each new decade, is not to be found in the mirror. It is found by losing ourselves in service to others.
Forget Yourself
Generally speaking, the most miserable people I know are those obsessed with themselves; the happiest people I know are those who lose themselves in the service of others.
