The Submariner Ref. 6538 was estimated to sell for as much as $280,000 in Sotheby’s “Watches Online: The Driver’s Collection” auction.

Saturday marks 50 years since the first manned moon landing, so the auction house is holding a dedicated sale of the official watch of NASA: the Omega Speedmaster.

Thought to be lost, the watch with a hand engraving from Brando himself will hit the block at Phillips this winter.

The auction house will hold a sale this fall of timepieces that bear the signature of both the watchmaker and retailer.

The legendary watchmaker’s most complicated pocket watch was the top lot at Phillips’ “Geneva Watch Auction: Nine” on May 11 and 12.
