Before we proceed any further, we’d like to remind you that this bit of information is being regarded as rumor for the time being. But in case you’re wondering why we’re giving credence to a cryptic teaser dropped on Instagram, it’s because this comes by way of the same guy who originally said Pattinson was up for the part of Batman.

'Hobbs & Shaw' Looks to Once Again Fend Off a Flurry of New Releases

'Hobbs & Shaw' Looks to Once Again Fend Off a Flurry of New Releases
Like last weekend, this weekend features five new wide releases, and while we're forecasting Universal's Hobbs & Shaw will finish atop the weekend box office for the third straight weekend in a row, it could be challenged by at least three of the weekend's newcomers. Challengers for that #1 spot include Universal's R-rated comedy Good Boys, Sony's Angry Birds 2 (which debuted on Tuesday) and Entertainment Studios's 47 Meters Down: Uncaged. Alternatively, Uar's Where'd You Go, Bernadette and Warner's Blinded by the Light look to be in a dogfight for tenth position as neither appears they will break out from the pack. After a -58% drop last weekend and a second straight weekend at #1, Universal's Hobbs & Shaw could join Glass and Avengers: Endgame as the only films to top the weekend box office three weekends in a row in 2019. This weekend we're expecting a -48% drop and a three-day around $13 million

Film Review: ‘The Divine Fury’

Film Review: ‘The Divine Fury’
Both “The Exorcist” and “Enter the Dragon” came out in 1973, igniting their respective genres at the box-office as never before. So you’d think more than a few enterprising souls would have tried to combine demonic-possession chills and fighting-action thrills. But apart from 1984’s flabbergasting camp classic “Ninja III: The Domination” — with Lucinda Dickey as an aerobics instructor who’s suddenly from hell — it’s hard to think of much in that vein before new arrival “The Divine Fury.”

This Korean import, releasing on about a dozen U.S. screens, features an Mma fighter battling his own demons while helping a priest free the afflicted of supernatural parasites. Jason (aka Joo-hwan) Kim’s film is a slick concoction that affords moderate guilty-pleasure fun for a while, though it goes on too long to diminishing effect. Nonetheless, a sequel is duly promised at the close.

His mother having died in childbirth,

Film Review: ‘Kingdom’

A dose of 21st century attitude mixes nicely with other winning ingredients in “Kingdom,” a thoroughly entertaining adaptation of Yasuhisa Hara’s hugely popular manga set in China, 245 B.C. Centered on two orphan boys who dream of becoming “the greatest generals on Earth,” this Japanese take on a Chinese wuxia is overwrought at times and too simply plotted at others, but wins through with colorful characters, top-class swordplay and snappy dialogue that’ll especially connect with younger viewers. Energetically directed and co-written by manga-to-screen specialist Shinsuke Sato, “Kingdom” grossed a whopping $50 million in local cinemas earlier this year and ought to perform strongly in limited North American release from August 16.

Taking its thematic cues from literary classics including “The Prince and the Pauper,” and adopting the high-spirited story-telling of action-adventures such as Akira Kurosawa’s “The Hidden Fortress,” “Kingdom” refreshes a familiar tale of heroes emerging from poverty to

Film Review: Marlon Wayans in ‘Sextuplets’ on Netflix

Film Review: Marlon Wayans in ‘Sextuplets’ on Netflix
Once the funniest and most ubiquitous family in Hollywood, the Wayans siblings — Damon, Keenen Ivory, Kim, Shawn and so on — have largely faded from the scene in recent years, leaving youngest brother Marlon (now nearing 50) to carry the mantle. Audiences may not be showing up for sendups like “Scary Movie” and “Dance Flick” like they used to, but Marlon has figured out a foolproof solution: Make lowbrow laffers with search-friendly titles directly for Netflix, and the checks keep rolling in.

First it was “Naked” — a “Groundhog Day”-style infinite-repeat scenario in which Marlon plays a groom who wakes up au naturel on his wedding day, over and over until he gets it right — and now it’s “Sextuplets,” which is the first thing that pops up when you type “S-e-x” into Netflix. In both cases, lonely viewers looking for something spicy will have to settle for a relatively bland and half-baked comedy,

Film Review: ‘Mission Mangal’

Chronic cynics and inveterate snarkers would do themselves — and everyone else — a great big favor by steering clear of “Mission Mangal,” an entertaining and ingratiating feel-good movie about the 2013 launch of the Mangalyann space probe, an against-all-odds triumph of the Indian Space Research Organization (Isro). In the world according to director Jagan Shakti and his team of screenwriters, this epochal event — India’s first interplanetary excursion, and the first time any country succeeded at sending a satellite to Mars in its initial attempt — is a textbook example of jugaad, a Hindi expression often translated as efficacious improvisation with minimal resources. And there is more than a hint of “Hidden Figures” to the storytelling here, in that most of the improvisation is inspired by observations and experiences of women who sign on for the Mars Orbiter Mission, or “Mom”.

Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan are first and second among equals in the ensemble cast,

Hong Kong Protesters Push Boycott of Disney’s ‘Mulan’ After Star States Support for Police Crackdown

The teaser description aptly fits the mood of the Tekno-produced “Won’t Be Late,” with its island and house-flavored grooves serving as an undercurrent to the pair’s rhymes, which discuss the merits of taking it slow in a relationship. “Baby, don’t fight it, you’re giving me life,” Swae Lee sings.
