Netflix Street Foods is great because it focuses on the stories of the people making the food -- the locals and their thoughts and history and whatever -- not on an outsider host and whatever they might be going through.

This is a very thoughtful & moving essay that is about my book, but more than that. Especially the part on how we elites try to "save" people, when what is best is treating them as equals. As another person with a soul, rather than a project to be pitied.

A great review of Chris Arnade’s searing new book about class & the growing current cultural divide in America, “Dignity.”

This is beautiful. Please read it. I resonate with so much of ’s story. I started reading ’s book yesterday with no small amount of trepidation. It’s an emotionally heavy book, but important.

This got canceled by breaking news, but my answer would have been, no they did not make a mistake Committing to make health care truly there for voters, regardless of if they lose their job, or their income, is absolutely a win for Dems. Current system is absolute mess

I know a lot of leftist will disagree with Stoller because he's defending "capitalism" but for me the gist of his piece is this line: "In 2008 we thought we were electing Franklin Delano Roosevelt, but really we elected Herbert Hoover."

PS: I guess I should plug my book that I was gonna plug on TV. Seems silly though. Still. Plug away. Seriously though, it is about the voices of people who have been screwed over by our system (health care included) & yet try to keep their head held high

Now it needs to be amputated. Why didn't he go back? Sooo many reasons. Big bills, confusion, no trust in institutions, no money, scared, etc. Or anxiety! Again, he didn't trust the system. Trust & confidence is supposed to be whole point of insurance!

In my book there is pic of man's mangled ankle. Story behind it is, he fell off roof 14yrs prior on a construction job (cash under table), went to ER, they set it, gave him huge bill & told him to come back 2 weeks later for proper setting He saw bill, freaked, & never went back

PS: I had a very helpful conversation with about this. He understands much better than I do, from a policy level, just how much current system does indeed suck.

Yes. It is confusing as Hell. It makes for lots of mistakes in choices (I have made many) which leads to big costs and even more worry. Whole point of insurance is to DECREASE ANXIETY. Current system does the opposite!

Current system is not insurance. Insurance is stable & knowable, the backstop there so you don't worry The working poor now constantly worry! If they lose their job they lose insurance. They bounce between Medicaid, the exchange, or nothing at all. It sucks & is expensive!
