Boy Erased: The tragedy of gay conversion therapy
Boy Erased director Joel Edgerton has offered advice to parents who struggle to accept LGBTI children.
His new movie stars Lucas Hedges as a teen sent to LGBTI conversion therapy camp and Nicole Kidman as his mother.
Asked ‘As a result of making the film, what would your advice be to a parent struggling with their child’s sexuality?’ Joel replied: ‘That love is the path to least resistance.’
The star furthermore added: ’That acceptance keeps a family together. Follow your heart, rather than belief or scripture or other people’s opinion.’
As well as directing and acting in Boy Erased, Joel has appeared in films such as Red Sparrow and The Gift.
