Hunt Leadership Scholars Program

spacer

The Nancy Ann and Ray L. Hunt Leadership Scholars Program allows students to combine learning and leadership. It enables outstanding student leaders from all walks of life to come to SMU - students whose leadership gifts will have a significant impact on our SMU community and, eventually, on the quality of our society.

Students selected as Hunt Leadership Scholars for the Class of 2024 will receive an annual Hunt Scholarship of $43,000, or a total of $172,000 over four years. The Hunt Scholarship will replace and supersede any centrally administered merit aid, but Hunt Scholars may also be eligible for additional departmental scholarships or need-based aid for a total scholarship package valued up to the cost of tuition and fees. In addition, because leaders of the 21st century will need to have a global vision in any area of leadership, the scholarship also covers the airfare and tuition costs for a leadership-based study abroad program immediately following each scholar's sophomore year.

Hunt Leadership Scholars have unique opportunities to learn from leaders. The Scholars have wide access to the Tate Lectures Series, one of the premiere public lecture series in the country. The Hunt Scholars attend a number of forums and discussions with leaders from many arenas, and first year Hunt Scholars take a leadership development course together during their first semester on campus. Finally, Hunt Scholars are expected to become leaders and change agents within the SMU community.
