Looking for a mid-century with bridge views and an indoor pool? Surprisingly, you have options.

It’s not often that we see homes in the Bay Area with an indoor pool. So imagine our surprise when not one but two homes came to market recently with that particular amenity. The two homes, one in SF and one in the Piedmont Pines area of Oakland, also have some other similarities, namely a mid-century vintage and bridge views courtesy of their respective hilltop vantage points.

But there are also some major differences, not the least of which is the price. In Oakland, 2731 Chelsea Drive is asking $1,899,000 for the four-bedroom, 2.5-bath 1958 property, which sits on nearly half an acre. In San Francisco’s Clarendon Heights neighborhood, 170 Palo Alto Avenue is asking substantially more—$2,795,000—for the 1949 property with four bedrooms and three bathrooms.

Despite the higher price tag, the San Francisco home is in entirely original condition; we can imagine even the biggest mid-century enthusiasts wanting to take on some major renovations of the kitchen and bathrooms. But no one will want to change the big walls of windows that look out on panoramic bridge-to-bridge views.

The Oakland views seem to be a bit more limited, but while the SF home is all original the Chelsea Drive has been impressively remodeled. It has a new kitchen and bathrooms but still keeps its mid-century charm with vaulted, open beam ceilings. It also has four bedrooms all on the same level.

In fact the majority of the home is on one level, including the covered pool, whereas the San Francisco home has a choppier floor plan over three levels. But it also has a separate 1,600 square foot pool house, which keeps the pool completely enclosed and allows for additional entertaining space.

Check out the photos above for more details on these two pool-party ready properties.
