Channel 4 almost certainly has their own drone that is significantly better than your Mavic pro or sub $1000 drone.
Also, CBS doesn't own this helicopter, nor channel 4, this is the same helicopter used by all of the local channels for traffic and other breaking news. They all pay for it together because it's much cheaper and more than likely all stations are going to want the same thing.
On top of that I don't think a drone will have 3 or 4 hours of air time, nor the permissions that the helicopter pilots have, nor the zoom lens that this helicopter has to get tighter shots.
But yeah they probably should have just sent a guy with a drone.
We use two types of drones - the Phantom 4 and the Inspire 2.
