It’s decision time for TV networks: ABC, CBS, NBC, and Fox are finally choosing which series to keep next season and which ones will get the ax. (The CW already decided to renew all of its series that weren’t previously announced as ending this year.)
Overshadowing ABC’s announcement that Grey’s Anatomy is returning for two more seasons (which will bring it to season 17 in 2021), NBC has ordered three more seasons of its hit This Is Us. The series, which wrapped its third season last month, will come back for seasons 4, 5, and 6.
Among the week’s other TV renewal/cancellation news is that ABC has picked up Shondaland series How to Get Away With Murder and Station 19, though legal drama For the People is done. The network also axed comedy Speechless, and freshman shows The Fix and The Kids Are Alright.
At Fox, freshman series The Passage, Proven Innocent, and The Cool Kids were axed, along with Empire spinoff Star and Lethal Weapon.
NBC, meanwhile, is giving Blindspot a fifth and final season to wrap things up, but officially pulled the plug on comedy I Feel Bad.
