Kristin Pope, MEd

Kristin Pope, MEd, is the Acting Director of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD). She previously served as the NCIRD Deputy Director for Management and Operations.

From 2008-2017, Pope served as NCIRD’s Associate Director for Policy. Pope joined CDC in 2000 as a project officer with the Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention. In 2003, she joined the National Immunization Program’s Office of Policy, Planning, and Evaluation where she worked on vaccine safety, health disparities, and influenza vaccination issues. In 2006, she joined CDC’s Office of the Chief Science Officer as a senior policy analyst. While there, she served as co-director for the Immunization Safety Office, overseeing vaccine safety communications, policy, and management. Prior to joining CDC, Pope spent more than 10 years in the nonprofit sector.

Pope has a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Michigan and a master of education degree in health promotion and behavior from the University of Georgia.
