Analyse the signs and characteristics associated with disease, or abnormalities such as abnormal growth, inflammatory disease, infection and cancer in the study of microscopic anatomy.
The Capability
Histology is the study of the microscopic anatomy of humans, animals and plants. Analysis of the naturally occurring cell types and the state of the tissue architecture is often used as an indication of health status or disease processes. Histopathology refers to the use of these techniques in the specific analysis of the signs and characteristics associated with disease or abnormalities such as abnormal growth, inflammatory disease, infection and cancer.
The University Platforms
With over 50 years combined professional experience, contemporary specialist facilities and the only open-access mouse histopathology service in Australia, the Melbourne Histology and Histopathology Platform offers a world-class range of histology services for researchers and specialised diagnostic needs. The platform represents a collaborative partnership between three nodes: the Department of Anatomy and Neuroscience, the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and the Melbourne Brain Centre.
