Animal Welfare

The Animal Welfare Veterinary Team oversees the care and use of animals used for teaching and research at the University of Melbourne. They work with researchers, students and staff to ensure the best possible research and animal welfare outcomes.

To do this, they:

  • Provide independent clinical advice, support, treatment and care
  • Develop best-practice standards, guidelines and protocols
  • Offer Animal Ethics Committee application and research advice, assistance and support
  • Deliver Animal Welfare and Ethics Training and other specialist training as requested or required
