Synopsis
The crypto-zoological agency Monarch faces off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah.
This is the latest installment in Legendary's MonsterVerse and is the sequel to 2014's Godzilla. It was officially announced by the studio after the first film opened in theaters, and the expectation was director Gareth Edwards would return. Edwards departed the project in 2016 and Mike Dougherty was hired as a replacement in 2017. Production on the film ran from June - September 2017.
The movie was originally planned for release in June 2018, but Warner Bros. pushed it back to 2019.
