Rollback?[edit]

What was your reasoning behind this revert? Lord Bolingbroke (talk) 02:41, 11 March 2019 (UTC)

@Lord Bolingbroke: Clumsy fingers on my part while checking my slow-to-load watchlist. Sorry! SounderBruce 02:42, 11 March 2019 (UTC)
I thought as much. No worries! Lord Bolingbroke (talk) 02:43, 11 March 2019 (UTC)

Interstate 90 Floating Bridges Page Edits[edit]

Hello. I am responding to your message about including more citations and will be adding those in the coming days. I am editing the Interstate 90 Floating Bridges Wikipedia Page for a class project. I will be continuing to add information throughout this week to improve the page. Thank you, happy to hear any feedback. Economics200 (talk) 16:58, 12 March 2019 (UTC)

@Economics200: Please consult your instructor on the proper ways of adding content to Wikipedia. I highly suggest using a sandbox or draft before trying to overhaul what amounts to a disambiguation page. SounderBruce 05:22, 13 March 2019 (UTC)

DYK for The Democrat-Reporter[edit]

Updated DYK query.svgOn 18 March 2019, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article The Democrat-Reporter, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that after the editor of an Alabama newspaper called for the return of the Ku Klux Klan, he was replaced by an African-American woman? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/The Democrat-Reporter. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, The Democrat-Reporter), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Request for input at FAC[edit]

Hey Bruce,

I've put The Infinity Gauntlet up for FAC, but the nomination hasn't attracted much interest. I know it's outside your normal area of editing ,but if you have the time and the inclination to add your comments to Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/The Infinity Gauntlet/archive2, I would appreciate it. Thanks, Argento Surfer (talk) 20:39, 19 March 2019 (UTC)

Amazon HQ2 GAN[edit]

Hello. I think at this point in time, Amazon HQ2 may be eligible for a Good Article nomination. The whole "controversy" aspect has settled (unless Virginians decide to throw a coup d'état too but of course that's not likely). If you concur as the article's creator then I'll nominate it. Peace. Trillfendi (talk) 21:02, 20 March 2019 (UTC)

@Trillfendi: I don't think that the article currently includes all of the necessary aspects of the bidding process (including details from each finalist, an overview of notable bids that failed to be finalists, and the bid incentives provided by each finalist) and it currently reads very roughly because of the way it was constructed in piecemeal fashion. I would also caution against nominating it prematurely, or at least until construction begins on the physical HQ, as plans are not necessarily stable until then. SounderBruce 02:06, 21 March 2019 (UTC)
That’s true. Unfortunately many of the finalists who had absolutely no chance still have their bids and financial details of it fortified because they want to use it again (which makes no sense if you think about it). But I guess over time it will eventually be brought to light. Trillfendi (talk) 16:49, 24 March 2019 (UTC)

FR30799386's User Scripts[edit]

Dear all. Recently, FR30799386 (talk) was blocked for sock puppetry. Among their projects were a number of user scripts that they left behind. I (DannyS712) have copied the scripts, and have taken over maintaining them. You currently import one or more of FR30799386's scripts, and I thought that you might want to import a maintained version. Links to each script are provided below.

If you have any questions, please reach out and talk to me. --DannyS712 (talk) 03:57, 21 March 2019 (UTC)

2019 Midwestern U.S. floods[edit]

Hi @SounderBruce:, you recently diverged from the March 2019 North American blizzard, and actually, I support this move. Unfortunately, the topic of Nebraska and Iowa flooding has become quite severe. I think making a separate article definitely will help, and I will add more to it later today. Thank you. Vancouver Waterfront Park[edit]

Hey! I visited Vancouver this weekend and took some photographs. I believe some of them could be used to illustrate the Vancouver Waterfront Park article, if you have any interest in helping to select a couple. Happy editing! ---Another Believer (Talk) 02:24, 26 March 2019 (UTC)

@Another Believer: Thanks for the shots. I'll choose a few and make a small gallery on the page, given how short it is. SounderBruce 03:01, 26 March 2019 (UTC)

Bellingham Skyline Image[edit]

This Skyline image on the Bellingham, Washington wiki article is outdated and needs to be replaced. Fernando Gonzalez 03:25, 30 March 2019 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gonzafer001 (talkcontribs)

@Gonzafer001: It can only be replaced if a free-use copy is found, either through the photographer and/or copyright holder uploading one to Wikimedia Commons, or the rights holder donating it through the OTRS process. A five-year delay in updating the skyline picture isn't a big deal, given that at thumbnail size Bellingham would look almost entirely identical. SounderBruce 03:30, 30 March 2019 (UTC)

So when another large development appears, for example, “Fairhaven Towers”, or “Bellingham Stateside” which is in development. Or when the skyline changes significantly, that’s when it will be a good time to change it? Fernando Gonzalez 03:35, 30 March 2019 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gonzafer001 (talkcontribs)

@Gonzafer001: Again, only if there is a free-use image to use. There's no point in rushing things for incredibly minor changes. SounderBruce 03:39, 30 March 2019 (UTC)

Wikipedia’s gender trouble is well-documented. In a 2011 survey, the Wikimedia Foundation found that less than 10% of its contributors were women. While the reasons for the gender gap are up for debate, the practical effect of this disparity is not: content is skewed by the lack of representation from women.

Let’s change that.

To help change this, the Jacob Lawrence Gallery is continuing a series of Edit-a-thons to improve Wikipedia's coverage of womxn and gender non-binary artists of color.

Childcare, snacks from local businesses, and editing tutorials will be provided.

All you need to bring is your laptop, power cord, and ideas. No previous Wikipedia experience required!

Everyone is welcome. Access to UW wifi will be provided for non-UW affiliated participants.

Please create a Wikipedia account before the event.
