While some airports may only cater to the uber-luxurious treatment of VIP passengers, Singapore's Changi airport just got even better with the opening of the tallest indoor waterfall in the world.

The Rain Vortex has a 40-metre drop into a cavern, and is surrounded by a five-story indoor garden, hedge maze, simulated clouds, bouncing nets, a giant waterfall, and tube slides.

According to the airport, the Jewel dome will help make long layovers not only exciting but potentially make Changi a destination all its own.

Both travellers and local residents will be able to enjoy the unique offerings inside a distinctive 134,000 square-metre building designed by architect Moshe Safdie.
