The film is loosely based on "The Infinity Gauntlet" storyline in the comic. But for the most part, is an original story made for the film. The story in the comic had Thanos wipe out life to please the personification of Death, but failed to do so. Thanos in the movie seeks to wipe out life because he thinks by doing so he can save the universe from overcrowding. Endgame is the final confrontation with him when he seeks revenge for the Avengers trying to undo his work. Edit (Coming Soon)

Not really. In order to understand this movie you just need to see a few Marvel films, specifically: Iron Man; The Avengers; Thor: The Dark World; Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 1 & Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2; Captain America: The Winter Soldier; Avengers: Age of Ultron; Captain America: Civil War; Doctor Strange; Thor: Ragnarok; Ant-Man and the Wasp; and of course, Avengers: Infinity War.
However, you will get more out of it if you watch all of them (In release order: Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger, The Avengers; Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ant-Man; Doctor Strange, Captain America: Civil War, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Thor: Ragnarok, Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War, Ant-Man and the Wasp, and Captain Marvel) Edit (Coming Soon) -
Because the very idea of Captain America is that he is the best of mankind. Not that he has powers, but that he is willing to sacrifice himself for the greater good. Hence his story arc coming to a close: a man always willing to serve, finally getting the one thing he wants most.
In an interview with Director Joss Whedon, he suggested that Captain America was always able to pick up the hammer but didn't want to shame Thor. This is why when Cap first uses the hammer in Avengers Endgame (2019) Thor states 'I knew it.' Edit (Coming Soon)

It appears that Spider-Man: Far From Home will happen after the events of Avengers: Endgame. Additionally, Kevin Feige made these comments during the Spider-Man Homecoming press tour in 2017, "So much happens in the 3rd and 4th Avengers movies, as you can imagine, and so much is affected by it that we felt what better person to hold your hand and lead you into the next incarnation of the MCU, in a grounded, realistic manner, than Peter Parker? So, coming out two months after Untitled Avengers, that's what much of what the next Spider-Man film will be about." Edit (Coming Soon)

The cast list on IMDb is presently sorted by the IMDb STARMeter, which tracks the overall popularity of a star at any given time. This is not the official billing of the film. On the official poster, Robert Downey Jr. receives top billing. Also, Evangeline Lilly has approximately 2 minutes of total screen time in this movie, while Brie Larson's character Captain Marvel plays a key role. Edit (Coming Soon)

Yes and no. Avengers: Endgame is the culmination of the 21 previous films, called The Infinity Saga. There has been no official talk about a fifth Avengers movie, and many of the actors, playing the original team of Avengers, have not extended their contracts, making this the last Marvel Studio movie, they will be a part of.
However it's implied that following phases past this one will focus on new heroes arising to take up the void left by those leaving (Spider-Man, Bucky, Sam Wilson, Captain Marvel, etc) . One speculation is that the next major story arc will be Secret Invasion with the Earth getting embroiled in the Kree and Skrull conflict. Edit (Coming Soon) -

Moments before Thor enters the Guardian's ship, we can see Quill looking at a screen with the picture of Gamora and the word 'searching' in top of it. This implies that she fled the scene and the search for her will probably be one of the main plots of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2021). Edit (Coming Soon)

The ending of Avengers Infinity War showed people in the local Wakanda area being dusted at different times which implies that the dusting effect isn't constant for everyone. Also in Endgame it's revealed that the power surge from using the gauntlet can be detected as a burst of energy that radiates from a single source (Earth, and then the planet where Thanos destroys the stones). This indicates that the effect of the snap travels outward like an energy wave. It's possible that the time it takes the energy wave to travel from Wakanda, combined with the variable time it takes for someone to be dusted would allow for Hawkeye's location on the Earth to rotate into sunlight prior to his family being dusted. Hulk explains it saying that changing the past doesn't change the future (or present). Thanos and his army dying in 2023 won't affect the main timeline but it will create another timeline in 2014 where Thanos and his army were wiped out of existence. So yes, for the new 2014 timeline there's no infinity war events. Edit (Coming Soon)

That's a good question. Some have claimed that when the team members were discussing her death (on the dock in the Avenger compound), soon after they all returned from their "Time Heist" missions, that this was her "wake" or "funeral". This may be more "wishful thinking" than an accurate description. Clearly, Tony Stark's funeral was more important to the writers, as he was the main character that the MCU was built upon.
