Our Treasures Gallery showcases significant items of Australian culture and history. It is a rich collection reflecting the Library’s status as the country’s first national cultural institution. The Treasures are varied and include the Endeavour journal of Captain James Cook, the landmark papers of Edward Koiki Mabo and Keith Murdoch’s Gallipoli Letter.

These teacher resources bring this collection into Australian classrooms. Aligned to the Australian Curriculum, the education materials provide activities to engage students with key sources from the collection.

The resources adopt an inquiry approach, allowing students to analyse sources, develop historical skills and draw their own conclusions about the Australian story.

The National Library of Australia Digital Classroom has been made possible by generous funding from the Library's Patrons and supporters
