ARC Centre of Excellence for Australian Biodiversity and Heritage
In mid-2017, the ARC Centre of Excellence for Australian Biodiversity and Heritage (CABAH) embarked upon an innovative, interdisciplinary 7-year research program to track the natural and human history of Australia and our near neighbours.
CABAH links researchers from science, technology, engineering and maths disciplines – including earth and climate sciences, ecology and genetics – with scholars from humanities, arts and social sciences disciplines, such as archaeology and Indigenous and museum studies. It will bring Australia’s epic story to the public through a comprehensive program of education, outreach and science communication events for schools, museums, science festivals and a range of digital media.
The Centre is funded by a $33.75 million grant from the Australian Research Council, with $1 million from the NSW Government, and $11 million from participating universities, museums, and other organisations, nationally and internationally.
JCU operates one of eight Australian University CABAH nodes involving more than 20 staff involved in delivering research, outreach and engagement.
For further information, visit the CABAH website.
