Nick Cannon Thinks White Women Are Seen As A Symbol Of Success

Mariah Carey's ex-husband has struck again.

Nick Cannon has his thoughts and he isn't concerned with how anyone feels about it.

During a 17-minute interview with guest Rizza Islam for his podcast, NCredible Conversations, the Masked Singer host questioned why Minister Louis Farrakhan shuns the idea of interracial relationships.

"Let's get to it. No more beating around the bush. Why I can't be with a white woman?" Cannon questioned. "I don't eat pork, but Goddamn the white women!"

Islam laughed with Cannon after the quip but quickly explained why his beliefs as a member of the Nation of Islam and why interracial relationships are frowned upon.

"The reason why the white woman, brother—and we can go into the anatomy, the biology and we can go into the history and the culture—is not ideal for the black man is because if you want to have the best of a black man, you have to have a black man and a black woman. "

Cannon interjected and noted from a historical standpoint, black men were killed for dating or even looking at a white woman, so now that interracial relationships are legal, some black men may want to pursue relationships with white women.

"White women are looked at as success," Cannon explained. "In America, we see a white woman — 'I couldn't have you. My daddy couldn't have you. My granddaddy couldn't have you. I would get killed even looking at you.' So, now, if I play for the NBA, I want 'em all."

Islam, however, said the desire a black man may have for a white woman says more about the black man than it does a white woman.

"So you're telling me, the black woman who has been there for us the whole damn time, who was there for us when we were getting lynched, who was there for us when we were getting whipped, every day, who was there for us to heal our wounds, to give us consolation of mind, to give us peace and quiet of mind, to help us to get through another day, you telling me she doesn't deserve at least..if you can give up on a black woman so easily, you don't deserve no other woman because you have demonstrated you can't give enough love to who needs it most."

Taraji P. Henson And Erykah Badu Clarify Comments Made About R. Kelly

Taraji P. Henson and Erykah Badu received the ire of the Internet after comments made in the wake of Lifetime's six-part docuseries Surviving R. Kelly. While in Los Angeles promoting their newest film What Men Want, both co-stars explained their intent behind the comments.

"I actually was just making an observation. I never tried to say anything," Henson said to the Associated Press. "I was just making an observation, and people know what side I’m on. Why would I launch a foundation for mental health in an African-American community for people to go somewhere to talk to somebody about traumatic experiences and then side with the predator?”

The Academy-Award nominated actress came under fire after viewing the #MuteRKelly hashtag on Twitter and noticed there wasn't a #MuteHarveyWeinstein hashtag. She posted an Instagram story with a simple "Hmmm," which many interpreted as Henson's way of deflecting

The post, which was later deleted, resulted in many condemning the Empire actress, who admits to have been a bit taken aback by the comments.

"Sort of, kind of, you know. Humans are fickle,” she said. “Anything you say or do can be taken totally out of context.”

Badu similarly caught some heat from social media after comments made seemingly in support of R. Kelly during a Chicago performance. When asked to clarify them, the 47-year-old said there wasn't much to clear up.

“There’s no deep meaning to it, you know. Unconditional love is love. Love is love. And I didn’t just pray for R. Kelly: I wanted to send energy out to everybody involved, everybody that’s hurting as a result of being hurt, is what I said. And I just thought it was weird that people thought that was weird. Why is that weird that I want love for people?”

Chance The Rapper Remixes Backstreet Boys' "I Want It That Way" For Doritos' Super Bowl Commercial

With the Super Bowl just days away (Feb. 3), companies are starting to roll out their commercials and this includes Doritos. To promote their newest flavor Flamin’ Hot Nacho, the American brand is bringing together the “I’m the One” collaborator Chance the Rapper and pop icons the Backstreet Boys for a hip-hop remix of the latter’s hit, “I Want It That Way.”

The commercial aims to be a success like the one the chip brand made for Super Bowl LII featuring hip-hop legends Missy Elliott and Busta Rhymes. The Doritos spot for Sunday's game between the New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Rams will be in the format of a music video.

The minute-long commercial starts with Chance trying Doritos' new flavor. Soon after he eats the chip he then “teleports” to a scene with the Backstreet Boys where the hip-hop remix of “I Want It That Way” and the performance of it begins. The new flavor has its own campaign called #NowItsHot, and the Chance and Backstreet Boys remix collaboration is only the first of many remixes the PepsiCo subsidiary hopes to make.

Doritos will also take its #NowItsHot initiative to Snapchat starting on Super Bowl Sunday with a filter that allows users to go “Backstreet.” This filter will incorporate accessories typical of the 90s inspired by the band.

“Fans have come to expect boldness and originality in our Super Bowl ads,” said Leslie Vesper, senior director of marketing for Frito Lay North America. “And, with a highly anticipated product like Flamin’ Hot Nacho, we knew we had to keep pushing the limits of Super Bowl advertising collaboration with a dynamic collaboration."

Doritos' #NowItsHot campaign will soon be promoted through concert-style posters on the streets of New York City.

Sandra Oh Thanks Several Black Actors In SAG Acceptance Speech

Sandra Oh is on cloud nine after taking home the SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series Sunday night (Jan. 28).

Dressed in a flowing floor-length red gown, the 47-year-old Grey's Anatomy alum was visibly flustered (and happy) as she took to the stage to accept her award. A beat later, she began her acceptance speech by thanking several black actors for providing encouraging words throughout her career.

"I just so want to thank my fellow actors. I have felt your support so tremendously in the last years,” Oh began.

"I want to thank Alfre Woodard,” she continued. “In 1997 — she’s never going to remember this, she whispers in my ear – 'I’m so proud of you up there. We fight the same fight.’ Jamie Foxx in 2006 pulled me aside and said, ‘Keep going.’ And in 2017, Lena Waithe, she just embraced me and said, ‘You already won. It’s in the work.’' So thank you to my fellow actors. Thank you so much.”

The Chi creator took to Twitter shortly after Oh left the stage and responded to her kind words in kind.

Wooow! @IamSandraOh. What a gift you are. Thank you for shining so bright. Your commitment to the craft is breathtaking. Congrats !! https://t.co/3b2lunJNeO

— Lena Waithe (@LenaWaithe) January 28, 2019

This is Oh's fourth SAG win and sixth nomination. Oh's performance in the drama series was the only nomination Killing Eve received.
