Jordan Peele's 'The Twilight Zone' Reboot Gets Air Date

CBS All Access will premiere the series on Apr. 1.

Ahead of the highly-anticipated release of Us, Jordan Peele will add to his canon of productions with a reboot of The Twilight Zone. According to The Wrap, CBS All Access will premiere the series on Apr. 1.

From 1959-1964, the Rod Serling-created program pushed the boundaries of what sci-fi television can look and feel like through otherworldly yet all-too-familiar storylines and narration. Peele will also serve as a narrator for the series, which is the third reboot of The Twilight Zone.

On the subject of another genre of cinema, Peele discussed his vision for horror as it pertains to race in an interview with Rolling Stone. He placed side-by-side his Oscar-winning reel Get Out and his forthcoming motion picture, Us starring Winston Duke, Lupita Nyong'o, Ann Diop, and Elizabeth Moss.

“It’s important to me that we can tell black stories without it being about race,” Peele said. “I realized I had never seen a horror movie of this kind, where there’s an African-American family at the center that just is. After you get over the initial realization that you’re watching a black family in a horror film, you’re just watching a movie. You’re just watching people. I feel like it proves a very valid and different point than Get Out, which is, not everything is about race. Get Out proved the point that everything is about race. I’ve proved both points!”

Kevin Hart Responds To Backlash Surrounding Support Of Jussie Smollett

Kevin Hart is fighting back after he received criticism for his comments about Jussie Smollett, which showed support for the actor who was recently the victim of a homophobic and racist attack.

On Wednesday (Jan. 30), Hart shared a post on Instagram, wishing Smollett a speedy recovery after the actor was reportedly attacked in Chicago by MAGA supporters. "Sending prayers your way @jussiesmollett," Hart wrote on social media. "This is unbelievably sad. Why are we going backwards....this is disgusting. We as people have to do better. WTF is going on the world????"

His response was immediately met with criticism. Many social media users pointed out the irony in his support of Smollett, considering his recent decision to step down from hosting the 2019 Academy Awards due to his past homophobic tweets and his attitude about them thereafter.

The comedian replied to writer Ira Madison III, who sarcastically mocked Hart for supporting Smollett. "I stand with a man in his time of hurt and need by giving him heart felt support and u take the time to harp on my 10yr past that I have apologized about and moved on from by being a better person," Hart wrote. "Do you want change? If so I am an example of what u want people to do...CHANGE!"

Check out the back and forth below.

'The Chi' Releases Chilling Trailer And Reveals Season Two Premiere Date

Dubbed the best premiere series on Showtime since Billions' 2016 debut, per Variety, The Chi will triumphantly return for its second season on Apr. 7. The network announced the program's re-up earlier this week, exciting fans that are eager to pick up where the first season left off.

Created and executive produced by Lena Waithe, the show follows the lives of different people in Chicago that find themselves webbed together by the murder of a teenage black boy. The program stars Ntare Guma, Jason Mitchell, Common, Yolonda Ross, Jacob Latimore, Alex R. Hibbert, Sonja Sohn, Steven Williams and more.

"We love the vibrant characters and the nuanced world that Lena has created," said Gary Levine, the network's president of programming. "Her vision for The Chi has clearly struck a chord, and we know she has many more moving, personal and resonant stories to tell about her beloved hometown."

In an interview with The Chicago Tribune, Waithe discussed her vision for season two. "Get even more of that Chicago lingo in there. What you can expect from Season 2 is that it will be blacker," she said. "Before, I think there was an element of, 'Oh, we don’t have to focus on the blackness of the city.' And I’m like, 'No, that’s what the show is!' And we really want to be immersed in the city and to show some actual places. I’m really grateful that the studio and network are really more in bed with my vision for Season 2."
