Welcome to the Billboard Chart Beat Podcast, where each week co-hosts Gary Trust and Trevor Anderson, from the Billboard charts department, discuss why what's on the charts … is on the charts, while also looking at current chart action in a historical context for even greater insights.

This week, we recap Ariana Grande's continued domination of the Billboard Hot 100 with "7 Rings," as well as J. Cole's blast to No. 4, as he scores his highest-charting hit with "Middle Child." Plus, Maroon 5 and Cardi B move closer to a record in the top 10, an achievement likely to be aided by the band's Super Bowl LIII halftime show performance this past Sunday (which gives Boston-born Gary a chance to recount the glory of the Patriots', and the region's, latest title).

Additionally, Backstreet Boys notch their first No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart since December 2000, so Gary and Trevor look back at who was in the top 10 with BSB the last time they ranked in the bracket. Perhaps surprisingly, several of the acts in the chart's top 10 nearly two decades ago are, like Backstreet Boys, still going strong today.

Plus, we continue our Grammy Awards roundtable, leading up to Sunday night's (Feb. 10) ceremony. Returning are Paul Grein, founder of the Chart Beat column in Billboard's pages in 1981, and Billboard.com senior editor Andrew Unterberger.

After covering the best new artist and album of the year categories last week, we delve into record and song of the year, plus who might take home Grammy hardware for best pop solo performance. Facing off in the lattermost battle are Beck's "Colors"; Camila Cabello's live version of "Havana"; Grande's "God Is a Woman"; Lady Gaga's "Joanne (Where Do You Think You're Goin'?)"; and Post Malone's "Better Now." Wrapping up the podcast, special guest Tiffany recalls her Hot 100 top 10 "All This Time," which was at its No. 6 peak 30 years ago this week.
