Late Wednesday night (Jan. 16), fans of South Korean septet BTS were introduced to a brand-new comic series based out of the act’s creative narrative.

Save Me, created by an artist known as Lico, premiered on Naver's Webtoon platform, with a prologue and the first two chapters of a narrative that ties into the storyline shared through many of BTS’ music videos and other related entities over the years as part of their “BTS Universe,” or “BU.”

“Seven boys. Best friends. Their fates intertwined through the good times together, but also the tough times, as they have gone their separate ways and suffered greatly as a result,” reads the description of the webtoon. “When all is almost lost for these boys, one is given a special chance to go back in time and help his friends fix the mistakes that led them down this path. He’ll do anything to save them, but can he? Or is he too late?”

Throughout the first three available chapters -- a prologue and the first two chapters -- the character Kim Seokjin, the legal name of BTS’ Jin, is centered as a protagonist trying to save the lives and fates of himself and his six schoolhood friends, all representing the other members of the group.

Save Me, formally known as The Most Beautiful Moment in Life Pt.0 <SAVE ME> according to a press release from Webtoon, will be updated with a new “episode” every Thursday. It is currently available in Korean, English, Japanese, both Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Indonesian and Thai.

The plot relates to the creative thread BTS has woven through its music videos, social media, a series of Notes and other related content since the release of The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Pt. 1 in 2015, fronted by the single “I Need U,” and The Most Beautiful Moment in Life narrative has carried through BTS' career since then. The title of the webtoon is the same as BTS’ 2016 single “Save Me” off of The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: Young Forever, which peaked on the Billboard 200 at No. 107 on the chart dated May 21, 2016.

Save Me was made public through the Smeraldo Books Twitter account, which has recently been sharing a series of videos and brief memos under the name "The Notes 1." At time of publication, 12 out of the planned 15 video-Note pairings have been released.
