Gotri conman dupes many promising loans

VADODARA: The city police is staring at a major fraud involving a conman from the Gotri area of the city who used to promise loans to gullible persons and do away with the loan amounts or took loans in the name of others and never repaid them.
Five incidents of cheating involving accused Tejas Bhatt, residing in Param Paradise near Rameshwar Vidyalaya in Gotri, have already come to light. In these five incidents itself, Bhatt has done away with an amount to the tune of Rs 1.48crore and a car.
The offence against Bhatt was registered by one Ripal Shah, a resident of Sarabhai Compound near Genda Circle. Shah has stated that Bhatt had purchased plots in Manjusar GIDC from him and gave him cheques. Bhatt had told Shah that he would take mortgage loans on the plots and ensure that the cheques mentioned in the sales deed were cleared.
Bhatt, however, took a loan of Rs 60lakh and did not pay money to Shah. In another incident, Bhatt promised to get a mortgage loan for Naresh Christian, but instead made sales deed of Christian’s property and took Rs 15lakh. He also took loan of Rs 27lakh in the name of one Jignesh Vyas and did not repay the amount. He also made a sales deed for the house of one Ilyas Solanki after promising to get him a mortgage loan and cheated him to the tune of Rs 46lakh.
Bhatt also took the car of a lady Sapna Suthar saying that he would put it on contract with a company. He did not return the car to the woman. The police suspect that Bhatt may be involved in other incidents of cheating and have taken him on a two-day police custody remand.
