Tokyo Disney puts the fun in hand-washing with Mickey Mouse foam

Theme park operator teams up with consumer products maker Kao to keep kids happy

Dispensers provided by Kao squirt out soap in Mickey Mouse-shaped blobs at Disney theme parks, making it fun to stay clean.

URAYASU, Japan -- Visitors to Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea can now have fun with Mickey Mouse, even while washing their hands.

On Tuesday, one hand-washing area at each of the parks was equipped with a special dispenser that spits out soap in the shape of the famous cartoon mouse. The dispensers are provided by consumer goods maker Kao.

"We want to promote regular hand-washing, as part of our effort to promote a clean, beautiful and healthy life," said Kao President Michitaka Sawada at a ceremony held at the park the same day.

"We would like our visitors to feel unique happiness during every single moment here, even while washing their hands," said Kyoichiro Uenishi, president of Oriental Land, operator of the Tokyo Disney parks.

Visitors can also buy a bottled version of the soap for 1,200 yen ($11) at the parks.
