Visiting W&L;

Our Campus

The Washington and Lee campus is renowned for its beauty, charm, and historical significance. In 1972, the front campus was designated a National Historic Landmark by the Department of the Interior, only the third college campus in the country to be so designated.

Washington and Lee is located in Lexington, Virginia, a historic city of about 7,000 people in the central part of the Great Valley of Virginia. Its vibrant and historic downtown offers several notable museums as well as a wide array of locally owned shops, galleries and restaurants which provide plenty of cultural and culinary options for students and visitors. Over four million acres of national and state forests, including treasures like Shenandoah National Park and the Appalachian Trail are all within a two-hour drive.
