The University Library is a selective Federal Depository Library for U.S. Government publications, as is the W&L law library.

Leyburn Library also houses rare books, manuscripts, specialized local history and University history materials in our Special Collections.

The Law Library's Scholarly Commons repository preserves the scholarship, publications, historical documents, and selected records of the law school and makes them available to the public.

Most books and videos are arranged by the Library of Congress classification system, periodicals are shelved alphabetically by title, and the Federal Depository publications are shelved by the SuDocs system.
