Jon Caramanica is a pop music critic for The New York Times, where he also covers television and writes the men's Critical Shopper column for Styles. After freelancing for the paper, he joined The Times in 2010

Mr. Caramanica was music editor of Vibe magazine from 2006 to 2008. Previously, he freelanced for a decade, writing for Rolling Stone, Spin, Vibe, XXL, Vice, the Village Voice and more. Mr. Caramanica was also a TV columnist for The Los Angeles Times.

Born in Brooklyn in 1975, Mr. Caramanica received a bachelor’s degree from Harvard and did PhD work at University of London, Goldsmiths College.
