Sasha Benz

Age: 31

Hometown: Sydney, Australia

Now Lives: In a 1940s wood-shingle cottage in Montauk, N.Y., steps from Ditch Plains beach.

Claim to Fame: Ms. Benz is a creative director at Montauk’s sceney Surf Lodge and a founder of the digital black book Cinq, which allows users to exchange contact-details cards and connect with contacts nearby. She said she created the app last summer, when she was constantly meeting people and couldn’t figure out an easy way to swap contact details.

“It’s taking away the awkwardness of that clunky exchange,” Ms. Benz said. “Business cards are clearly out of date, and there should be a digital form of that.”

Big Break: A former stylist in Australia, Ms. Benz moved to New York when she was 24 and started a lifestyle blog called “All My Friends Are Models.” (Recent entries include “An Easy Three Day Cleanse to Get You Moving & Shaking.”)

One weekend in 2012, she and her husband, Oliver Benz, who is a D.J., surfer and model, went out to Montauk and fell in love with the place. The couple was ready to move to Los Angeles when Jayma Cardoso, a founder of the Surf Lounge, offered Ms. Benz a job as creative director.

Latest Project: Ms. Benz is writing a memoir, which she envisions as a “a really cool scrapbook of my life” as an Australian expat, mother, wife and entrepreneur. “I’m a crazy perfectionist so I don’t know how I’m ever going to feel like it’s done,” she said.” “I’m writing slowly between having no sleep with two kids and Cinq and Surf Lodge.”

Next Thing: Although she claims to hate reality TV (“I get kind of aggressive when I see a Kardashian on the TV”), Ms. Benz said she and her husband were in talks with several networks for a reality show about their life. “There’s a chance they’re going to come out and film the madness next summer,” she said.

Working Mom: Ms. Benz recently gave birth to her second daughter, Baybi, and she has no intention of slowing down. “I’ll never be the mom that stays home and is just happy with that,” she said. “I love the idea of always balancing and not making it easy for myself.”
