    Beat heat by taking the National Mall Route to get around to the monuments, memorials and museums. And, as a matter of fact, it does stop at the Natural History Museum!

    Aretha Franklin performed often on the National Mall, including the Clinton & Obama inaugurations, the "Coming Together to Conquer Cancer" rally, "A Capitol Fourth," and this rendition of "Precious Lord Take My Hand" at the dedication of the MLK Memorial.

    Thanks to heads up from . There appears that there was a dye added to the Dupont Circle Fountain. It is almost filtered out now. Our crews will be draining the fountain today, then cleaning and refilling tomorrow to make sure it is clear of remnants.

    Today the Trust for the National Mall takes down the construction fence around the . Plantings in the new plaza and installation of educational exhibits is still in progress. The house will be open to the public soon. Please stay tuned for more details.
