Grade Point Average (GPA)

The Grade Point Average is a calculation of your average grade or result. This can be calculated on a yearly basis, or for your course as a whole. It is calculated on the following basis:

• Each result is assigned a number known as the grade point.

• The higher the result, the higher the corresponding grade point.

Examples

If you complete two subjects (both worth 3 credit points) and receive a Credit in one and a Pass in the other, then your Grade Point Average will be 4.5.

If your subjects have different credit point values (for example, one 3-credit-point subject and one 6-credit-point subject) this is taken into account in calculating your GPA to a formula. If you received a Credit in the 6-credit-point subject, and a Pass in the 3-credit-point subject, then your GPA will be 4.66. This is calculated with the following formula:

(subject credit points x grade point) + (subject credit points x grade point)
