‘Westworld’s’ Shannon Woodward to Produce Series Based on Nxivm Sex Cult
Annapurna Television is developing a scripted series inspired by the alleged sex cult NXIVM, with “Westworld” actress Shannon Woodward attached to executive produce.

The potential series is based on the New York Times report about the group published last year. The report, authored by Barry Meier, featured interviews with multiple women who said the purported self-help group, led by Keith Raniere, recruited women to serve as “slaves” and branded them with Raniere’s initials.

No writer is attached yet, but Woodward will executive produce along with Megan Ellison, Sue Naegle and Susan Goldberg of Annapurna.

The group has come under renewed interest in recent weeks, after Raniere was arrested in Mexico last month on charges of sex trafficking. “Smallville” star Allison Mack, who was identified as Raniere’s top lieutenant in the Times report, was arrested last week.

Alan Ball’s Drama ‘Here and Now’ Canceled By HBO After One Season
Exclusive: HBO is not renewing Alan Ball’s family drama Here and Now for a second season. The news comes 10 days after the series’ Season 1 finale.

“After careful consideration we have decided not to move forward with a second season of Here and Now,” HBO said in a statement to Deadline. “We thank Alan for his dedication to innovative storytelling, and we look forward to his next endeavor.”

Here and Now, which starred Tim Robbins and Holly Hunter, stemmed from Ball’s close relationship with the previous HBO regimes. It was a rare miss for the Oscar and Emmy winner, creator of HBO’s signature series True Blood and Six Feet Under and executive producer of Cinemax’s biggest hit Banshee. In addition to a lukewarm reception from critics, Here and Now also drew modest viewership for an HBO drama series, averaging 300,000-400,000 Live+same day viewers for the premiere telecast.

‘The Opposition': Jordan Klepper Begs Hillary Clinton to Stick Around for the Gop’s Sake
On Wednesday night’s episode of “The Opposition With Jordan Klepper,” Klepper basically begged Hillary Clinton to keep being involved with politics, because it’s the only thing the Gop has left to win votes in a mid term election that is trending heavily Democratic.

In his “Just Between Us” segment, in which Klepper’s faux-right wing persona pretends to have a private conversation with like-minded conservatives, Klepper said “”We need Hillary Clinton. She’s basically the whole Gop strategy for winning the midterms. Without her to crap on, our candidates have nothing to stand for.”

Republicans have already given up on legislating this year and it’s only April,” Klepper said. “If there was no Joker in Gotham, Batman would just be some rich weirdo in a cape, masking it up with a boy acrobat he’s not even related to.”

“We need more Hillary, and we need more Hillary, quick,” Klepper continued. “Just seeing her name makes most people’s buttholes shiver.

“What do we do when Hillary isn’t relevant anymore?” Klepper asked. “Same thing I do when my therapist tells me to stop bringing up my ex-wife: talk about her anyway.”

“You bring out the worst in me,” Klepper joked about Clinton. “Which is my best feature.”
