Marian Ronconi
October 21,1924 to April 20,2018
Heaven will no longer have to wait for our Dear Marian who passed away in peace a mere two weeks after her own beloved husband of 71 years Attilio. Now Marian and "Till" will walk the same path in eternity together.
A native San Franciscan Marian DeMartini was "the baby" of an Italian/American family. Her Father Luigi DeMartini and Mother Albina Bachigalupi along with a sister Madelyn and brothers George and Elmo all growing up in a house in North Beach on Greenwich St….Marian would be the first to tell you that only true San Franciscans would pronounce the aforementioned street as "GREEN-wich" street…a much different pronunciation than the East Coast standard.
Whether going to the Alhambra Theater to see Shirley Temple movies or later on at Galileo High School being asked sarcastically by a teacher "what is Al Capone having for breakfast today? When that same teacher happened to notice a young Marian staring out at Alcatraz from a window in her classroom. Marian enjoyed a very sweet and memorable childhood in her hometown of San Francisco which she would reside in for her entire life.
In 1947 Marian wed Atillio Ronconi after exchanging sweetheart letters with him throughout his three years of service to our country in WW2. Moving to the Richmond district sons Paul and Robert soon followed and Marian proved to be a loving and devoted Mother who taught her children a love of Nature with daily trips to Golden Gate Park and Ocean Beach among many other valuable lessons.
Survived by her two sons Paul and Robert, daughter in law Graciela as well as her beloved nephew and nieces Jimmy, Anne, and Lyn including great nephew Sean and his bride Mandi.
We shall all dearly miss our self-described "Tough Cookie" and the way that Marian could start a conversation with anyone at anytime and leave them all with a smile or a laugh. She was a true sweet spirit and a gentle soul..... those of us who knew her were very fortunate indeed.
The Visitation will be on Friday at 9:30 AM and a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM both at St Ignatius Church, Parker at Fulton St, S.F.
The Committal Service will be followed at Holy Cross Cemetery
